Common one is 55 or 75, but I've heard people using 90 to 125, I'd like to know what a 90 toc125 grain performs like
North of 90gr are normally used subsonic in a 223. Anything heavier would be more suited to the 224 Valkyrie.

5 shots at 100y,
88gr ELD Hornadys / 23.4 gr Varget, LC neck turned , Gold match primers did not chronograph est 2740 fps
In my gun a Barnard s action 30.5' 1/7 twist Bartlien, Robertson stock. using Lapua brass and 25.5gr varget with 90gr VLD Bergers
the primer pocket will be to loose to load again or primers would fall out
For me 25.5 varget you would be way north of 65000 psi
I have found that IVI 223 brass tends to be some of the heaviest I have ever measured, and I weight all my 223 brass. I have a theory that the high case weight indicates reduced powder capacity. So you might be able to go even higher charge weight if you switch to a lighter / more voluminous case.
Oh my, that does look interesting. Any spec on the burning rate of this powder?

Jerry, are you stocking that powder? Readily available in Canada?
I’m Just starting load dev on a new 223 AI, and I have room in the storage locker for another powder.....
Cheers!
Don't skip the ream/swage primer pocket step with those babies.
What bullet is that? I’m hoping I can throat it for 69gr smk as well as the 88s. I bought 80gr as well. Will see if I can find a good length.View attachment 320512
If you really want big... bearing surface to the base of the neck. Will fit in a modified mag.
Jerry
That’s what I’m wondering too. Insite arms is gonna do my 223 build and I’m unsure what chamber specs to go with. I want to be able to shoot the 75 eldm’s well at the every least.
