So, I can get the Wheeler torque wrench down here for $51 CAD. I never do a checked bag as it is two separate airlines home and they will not cooperate with each other and any other combo is a nightmare for a timeline.
What do you think, would it get thru? Or should I leave the bits behind? Maybe I’ll leave the bits behind if they pull me over? What do y’all think?

Grab 2 I’m down for the second no joke hehe

Maybe you could mail it to yourself. Just a thought.

Done that a couple times, while it worked in the end it cost more money in the end, all my stuff in a carry on went thru with no discussions about duties...

Send me a PM, we are coming back beginning of Dec....

I agree grab two and mail it to yourself or put in your checked baggage

Checked bag turns a 4hr trip to a 7.5hr PIA........

Its a screwdriver
..ffs.

Exactly, that’s why I can see them squawking that one could pierce some human soft bits with it. I’m emailing the TSA and will roll with that.

TSA agents can make up their own rules as they go.

Same can be said for the CATSA in Canada. I once argued for 15 minutes with an agent in Calgary airport who was going to confiscate my eyeglasses repair kit as it had a screwdriver in the kit with a 1cm long shaft.......
The agent was a young female with an authority complex - her supervisor was a bit better.

Here's the published rules:

Canada
https://www.tc.gc.ca/en/services/transportation-security/aviation/what-not-bring-on-plane.html

US
https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/household-and-tools

Multi-tools without blades and Screwdrivers less than 7" are allowed in US Hand Carry. Tools 7 inches or shorter (measured from end to end when assembled) are allowed in US carry-on baggage.

I just measured my Wheeler Fat wrench with a blade in it and it is 7.5" long - I figure based on the above you are screwed trying to board with them.....

Note on the US site it specifies:
The final decision rests with the TSA officer on whether an item is allowed through the checkpoint.

Brownells has it for 50$ U.S
Amazon.ca over last 6 months had it for anywhere between $79-109Can+tax +free shipping

Brownells charges $10 U.S to ship, if I was in your place I would wait till black friday and order it then and/or keep an eye on the open box deals at amazon.ca

Cheers,
