Just received today a .223WSSM in the Winchester Super Shadow model that I recently purchased from another CGN member. I couldn't wait to get to the range with it as I have been waiting for it for almost 10 days! ( he must have shipped it Pony Express..just kidding Myles :D)

Anyway, I only had about an hour to sight it in and run some brass through it and these are my results...which incidentally, I am very pleased with.

NOTE: I don't reload so I use the Winchester Supreme ammo, 55 gr moly coated bullets.

Edit: 3 shot group

I did take some 200 yard shots without letting the barrel cool properly and still ended up with favorable results, about one inch. But again, I was in a hurry. ;)

Add me to the list of WSSM fans.

Regards,
TD

When I put the one box of ammo thru it at the range, there was a couple of clay pigeons left out at the 250. Two shots and they were gone with my crappy bushnell banner 3x9 on it..... The rifle shows a lot of promise.... surprisingly accurate with factory ammo.

I agree. Heading back tomorrow afternoon and we'll see what it does at 200. Shouldn't be much deference.

I think one of these two things is going to have to change in the not-too-distant future.

Great cal, but it's already doomed to obsolescence like so many others that deserved to live

How so? I haven't heard any rumors to that effect. Other than the shortage of .223 and .308 because of the war, but nothing to suggest "obsolescence."

with only Browning chambering rifles, the future isnt bright for the WSSM

In fact, Browning just discontinued both the synthetic stalker and stainless stalker in 243 WSSM

I'd expect the chambering to be obsolete soon, as well as factory loaded ammo.

I wouldn't worry too much about brass though. Most obsolete chamberings still have readily available brass, if not loaded ammo. 284, 348, 358, 307, 356, 357 max, etc etc.

I sure hope not. It would really be a shame to discontinue such a sweet caliber, not to mention the price point for these rifles is fantastic.

Made it to the range this morning and thought that my POI was a little to the the right so after a couple of clicks this is what I ended up with...

1/4 min groups are really tough to give up. Might have to stock up on a little brass.

I knew that rifle had potential.... maybe I shouldn't have sold it.:D

223 Wssm

I had a Win 70 Super Shadow that didn't group so Browning Canada replaced it with an A-Bolt wssm. It seems much better and looking forward to shooting some more soon!
PS Nice groups guys!

Yeah, I just picked up the only Varmint Synthetic Stalker I could find in 243wssm. Found it at Le Baron tuesday and went to pick it up right away, nice gun...havn't shot it yet...waiting on dies for it.
