Need Advice - Lightest 1-8 Power Optic

I have a Modern Sporter on the way and I'm looking for an optic to cover a few bases; predator hunting, 3-gun and ~400y gong ringing.

I'm thinking an illuminated 1-8 power in mil with target turrets would fit the bill but I'd like to keep the weight down.

Is there something other than an Accupower that I could look at?

1-8x NX8 or Luepold x8 if price is not an object.

Otherwise similar quality glass but lots more weight... Vortex razor 1-8x, Trigicon 1-8x, Elian 1x-3x-9x(very underrated but heavy)
 
Not sure why you need a 1-8x optic if only predator hunting and gong ringing to 400 yards. A 1-6x optic gives you plenty of magnification AND opens up way more optics choices.

If your main concern is light weight consider the Leupold VX-6HD 1-6x (I have a couple and they are amazing optics) however I don't believe it comes in a MIL version. Only MOA. Another good feature is that the adjustment is in 1/4 moa instead of the typical 1/2 moa that most low power variables come in.

Here's how the NX8 will look on the sporter, with a set of ATRS rings as well.

I'm happy with it, but I honestly can't compare to anything else in the same spec range, as this is the first compact scope I've had.

Thanks for all the options. 1-8s are pretty pricey it seems. I had a Primary Arms PLx 1-8x24mm but I hated the horse shoe reticle.

I might look at 1-6 or even 1-4 as jiffx2781 suggested.
 
Take a look at the Optisan 1-6 , glass is crystal clear, turrets are crisp, the factory flip up lens covers are best ever.
Virtually unheard of around here , but the one I owned was excellent.
 
I’ve never had issues with my 1-4 accupoint in the 350-400 range. It’s pretty damn light too. I was always told 1x for every 100 yards you intend to shoot is sufficient, although obviously you won’t be resolving much on target detail at that ratio. As others have suggested 1-6 should be plenty and there are much more options. If you like lightweight also look into the Aero Precision ultralight mount.
 
The XTR II 1-8x FFP is a great LPVO, but a little on the heavy side at 24 oz.

Not sure if available in Canada anywhere but I've heard some good things about the Swampfox Tomahawk 1-8x. At 19 oz it is pretty lightweight for a budget LPVO
 
I have a Vortex Viper PST 1-4 in an Aero Ultralight on my 14.5". I like the reticle and the glass is decent. I'll try it out on the MS for a bit and go from there. I want to get something a bit better so maybe the Accupoint is where I'll end up.
