Hey guys,

Maybe this is a noob question but I went to adjust the gas on my FAMAE as it has been under some heavy use. It wouldn't turn by hand so I used a nickel and to turn it and now it just spins...

Any tips? Maybe it's just dirty in there? Is it possible to take it apart and see what's going on? I haven't taken apart my gas block before and it has seen a few thousand rounds for sure.

You've never disassembled it let alone cleaned it in a few thousand rounds? There's your problem. The detent is caked full of s#!t and now that you've moved it it's stuck. The gas block area is about the only thing that really gets dirty on these.

The Famae is REALLY simple to takedown and clean. Hopefully this helps :d

I clean it thoroughly after every range trip. I've never *taken the gas adjustment knob and valve out of the gas block

Today I shot many hundreds of rounds and adjusted the knob.

Thanks though.

Okay so I was able to get the roll pin out and check the valve, looks like the detent IS all caked up.

First time it's ever happened, but I did shoot many hundreds of rounds today nearing a thousand...noted for my cleaning process now to make sure that little detent is oiled up. Hard one to get to!

Thanks to the both of you!

The various propellants that we get in our ammo varies pretty wildly.
Some burns cleaner than others.

A regular clp soak and cleaning normally should do it.
If you need a few more details on the gas valve watch this video.
It is actually of a Taurus CT30, think license built FAMAE in Braazil by Taurus.
The gas valve is pretty much the same thing but the video gives nice details about how it works and even gas port sizes. My portuguese is not so good but it is easily figured out.
Pity the FAMAE are not known more in the englush speaking world.
