Dry Fire Safe or Not safe?

I've got a brand new ruger gp100 4.2". is it safe to dry fire this without harming/damaging it?

Most modern firearms are completely safe to dry fire. If you are worried, buy snap caps. Secondary benefit is you can use the snap caps for the Flinch Test.

It is safe to dry fire.

I dont know of any centre-fire firearm that would not be safe to dry fire.

I know of a couple Sig pistols that broke firing pins dry firing. (226).

Generally speaking, it's not supposed to do any damage to centre fire guns, but if I was going to do it on a regular basis, I would use the snap-caps, too.
