How much does an average pelt go for? Who do you sell to? I hunt in ontario and was wondering about getting some money to recoup costs of fuel and ammo lol

A few that fell victim to a FoxPro last week. $1K in fur in a few hunts.
You hope that there is $1000 worth. With NAFA in bankruptcy protection and not having a sale this year it does not leave a lot of options for selling them. Hopefully Fur Harvesters can step up and handle the volume with decent prices.

SW Ontario also has big populations. I know one farmer who is like the pied piper of yotes. He just goes back to the edge of the one gully on his land and sits on the same log every time. He has a bamboo garden stake with a few different types of turkey feathers and a few pieces of snipped beer can (like a fishing spoon) tied to it. He sticks that in the ground, sits on his log, and makes whistling noises with no call. It isn’t long before they are coming up out of the gully to see what is going on. It also isn’t long before they are getting a free ride right back down to the bottom of the gully.
His best year he averaged 7 a month for the year.
I tried to duplicate his whistling noises.
All I have been able to get were a few birds who called back, and a couple of grey squirrels yelling ‘intruder, intruder’.

Southern Ontario,although quite high still, has had a bit of a population decline over the last couple of years because of the prevalence of Sarcoptic Mange. I have too much trouble posting pictures on here to show,but,some of the Coyotes we saw last season were in such bad shape,it was more humane to put them out of their misery. That's what over-population does.
Picked up a mouth call yesterday just south of me.
That was a worthy trip.
My hunting buddy has his eye on the FoxPro Predator that Cabblers is offer'in up.
Any good reviews on this one?

Yeah, I have definitely noticed a decline in yotes showing up on my cams this year. In previous years I would have a ton, and the ones with nice coats were certainly the exception. Even gut piles/bones/trimmings stuck around for a day or two this year. Before, a gut pile from the morning would be gone when went back out again later that day.
I do my own plus 5 other guys in town, our average was about $160 cnd I believe...some close to $200 going through NAFA. These are prime heavy westerns.....way better prices then eastern coyotes but that being said a good eastern may get you good money this year. I would suspect north of $60 a piece for eastern coyotes. Last year easterns averaged $50-70 in the last sale.
I have called coyotes for decades,,,,I love predator hunting. The fur cheque is just a bonus.

The demand for western coyotes is as strong if not stronger then last year. Buyers are just gonna move over to FHA. Regardless Im not in it for money, I enjoy the the whole process from shooting to a finished coyote.
There are also private buyers here in Sask that will pay top dollar, Im confident it will be a good year.

I had a FoxPro spitfire, it was ok but the volume from it was just adequate, any wind and it was not loud enough. Range from remote to unit was shorter than I liked as well. Sold it and got a FoxPro firestorm ( I think) remote range is better, volume is great, uses 8 AA vs 4 for the spitfire.
With these and my trail cameras now I try to use energizer lithium AA batteries, the last much longer in the cold than alkaline and no chance of leaks.

we don't have the numbers here in south central mb as they do out west but I love calling. I even called in one big male who howled nearby with my voice when deer hunting, sounded horrible but got the job done lol.
decoys may work with dumber coyotes out west but after a few bad experiences and no positives with decoys I refuse to hunt with one. ive seen coyotes stop on a dime when coming on a trot and not come a step close as soon as they see the decoy. stand around nervously and then leave. its not needed nor wanted.
mouth calls are awesome. I have tried dozens, given away lots of crappy ones. my favorite howler is a lohman circ she howler and the primos little dog and hot dog aren't bad. I prefer quaker boy distress calls.
electronic calls I have had 4, the last 2 a fox pro spitfire and the current and last one a FoxPro banchee. remote had to go back for warranty it quit working in the cold. works well now. the loud calls come in handy when its windy. the spitfire was not loud but ive seen coyotes come in recently calm weather from some crazy distances when using the quieter spitfire. the banchee lacks no volume. crazy loud. one warning always call quieter than youd think you need. they have great ears.
get a good seat and good shooting sticks. have patience in pressured areas. my last coyote this weekend, a big male came 27 minutes into the set.

He just got in his new caller.
I've bin invited ice feesh'in tomorrow and may do that and try out
me uther buddies new eyece feesh'in tent.

Then found a TOA external speaker. Wired that to the foxPro
Not a chance you can stand in front of it.
I was calling yotes and my lives 8 miles from the spot
