I just got off the phone with Nikon warranty department, hoping to get warranty on an older prostaff 2-7 scope, turns out receipt is required. I guess they're counting on no one keeping their receipts for an extended period of time. And here I thought optics companies warranties were getting better, at least that's how they market them. Is this same answer I'd get from all the other companies as well? Just curious.

I think I still have receipts for a couple of my Nikon scopes around somewhere........ Haven't had any problem with them at all to date.
That being said it is unfortunate that you require proof of purchase for service for Nikon as Leupold will repair their scopes with no receipt required at all.

Be interesting to see what hoops Nikon decides to jump through to get out of honoring warranty now that they are abandoning the rifle scope industry.

From reading Green Gun's contact with the Nikon Warranty Department it would appear that the only hoop you will need to jump through is having your purchase receipt for your Nikon scope......

Hmmm, I didn't realize they were getting out of rifle scopes, good to know.

Yes, Nikon just announced that they will no longer make rifle scopes which is really too bad as I like them a lot. Reasonably priced, nice glass with good clarity. Solid scopes in my opinion. I have 3 and have been happy with them all. Just harvested a white-tail with my 25-06 topped with a Nikon Prostaff 4.5-18x40.

I only have one Nikon scope I bough a couple or so years ago now. It's a monarch 3 and I'm super happy with it in all weather conditions so far. Has not been babied at all, it's a hunting scope.
When I bought the scope from reliable gun they showed me the warranty registration paper inside and stapled my receipt to it. The instructions are to fill it out, pull off the one copy as it's a carbon copy deal, and stick it in the envelope in the box and send it to Nikon, registering your scope. If you ever lose your receipt you are covered if you register is what I understand.
