Looking at possibly selling my Norinco 1911 and buying a fun semi auto .22, a lot of my stuff is big caliber and I am looking for something in .22 to have fun at the range for cheap. I am considering either a

- ISSC Mk22
- GSG-15
- GSG-16

I plan on possibly putting a red dot on it but might use the irons. I am curious which has the best sights, most durable for lots of plinking, fun to shoot, etc.

Well, for one thing, those three rifles all use the same action. So you could just pick based on price, mags, etc.

I got a GSG-16 recently, and put a cheap red dot on it. It is a lot of fun, for sure.

Having a tough time deciding. They are all similar price, all mimic guns I love the look of, as you say all use the same action.

Go to a store and see them in person if you can. You might find one that fits you better.

Some guys find that the GSG-16 isn't as good to shoot, because the collapsible stock doesn't afford as good a cheekrest as the others. I don't have any issue with it, though.

Keep the 1911, look at the bolt action .22 rifle offerings for 1/2 the price and double the accuracy!

...semi-auto gets boring, but accuracy never does.

Semis NEVER get boring!!!! However each to their own!

I LOVE my GSG-16, Rem 597, Ruger 10/22, Savage 64F, & Mag Research .22Mag!!!!!! Semis for the WIN!!!!!

Everything I own in rifles right now is bolt action too so looking for a fun plinking .22 to change things up at the range. Anyone fire the Mk22 kinda leaning that way

I know people will harp on the "plastic-ness" but I really enjoy my Mossberg 715T.

I bought it first for my kids to get started shooting but I have a blast shooting it as well.

It is accurate and reliable (once I repaired the magazine release).

Put a cheap red dot on it as well just for kicks.

I have both the gsg 15 and 16...I love them both for different reasons. Gsg 16 is lighter for sure, it the gsg 15 is fun to shoot as well. Tough call on which one. But if I had to choose only one it would probably be the gsg 15 as it shoots better imho

Decided to go with the Mk22. Tenda has them on sale for $450 and I was also able to pick up a cheap Bushnell Simmons red/green/blue dot they had on sale from $120 on for $80

Rifle and red dot all in for $545

Will these accept GSG-15 magazines?

I wish there was a decently made scary looking NR 22...$500 for a pile of plastic, zinc and MIM just doesn't do it for me. I definitely like the look of some of the GSG line, but they are sooo cheaply made, and not made to last. I guess I could dress up a 10/22 but I don't really want a $1000+ 10/22 either. Other option I guess would be to build a dedicated Macabee 22, but again it would be pretty pricey.
My 2 favorite semis presently are a 10/22 in a Magpul stock, and a $150 Nork SA22 clone. Neither are very "tactical" but they both are reliable, accurate, and durable, and will outlast me lol.

I don’t think cheaply made matters too much in a fun plinking .22, keeps cost down and if it last 10,000 rounds or more it’s well worth it to me.

I guess if you don't take care of your rifle it will fail, break, or not last. I for one take exceptional care of "all" my stuff let alone rifles. I personally think the GSG is well built & will defiantly last. I do agree that your rifle with the Magpul stock is high quality & built as well. But if one is to look after a rifle with plastic & magnesium like one made of stainless & rubber over mold stocks, it will last just as long.
