Bluetooth capable shot timer?

When running a match and getting a final score for a stage for someone's run; the only shot that counts is the last one.
It really doesn't matter if the timer picks up echos indoors. Echos matter when training and trying to work on splits, draws, etc; but I wouldn't worry about it at a match.

Then you would be better off buying a less expensive, non BT timer that doesn't upload splits to Practiscore automatically

The last shot does count for score. But all previous shots recorded can confirm that the last one is indeed accurate and correct.

Also, splits and all other times in between during the match are useful data and it is an interesting material for comparison of multiple runs. Though you could pull similar data out of the stage run videos, but none of them as convenient as data pulled from BT timer.

I have an AMG, havnt used it extensively yet but it works well, and i can set up my own drills in practiscore and track all my runs and splits for later comparison.

Worthwhile for me.

Hmm... the PractiScore app never been really designed for practice and/or for running repeated drills. Creating matches, stages/drills and adding shooters all taking time away from the practice time. I found most of that mildly annoying at the range.

That's why I'm releasing a different app crafted just for the practice. I've been using it for several months during competition season.

It records all shots on the phone/tablet for every run/string - all controlled from the timer. Keeps log of your practice and has an option to export all data to Excel. Easy to compare multiple runs (same day or months apart), look at split times and time charts. Drills can be associated with the runs up-front or after the fact. Same for shooters. More stuff in the near future, including image and video log and notes.

This will be an one-time paid app with free updates for life.

The issue here is that the secondary RO has to record the last shot manually instead of just pulling from the timer through bluetooth. Also need to make sure that the primary RO is watching the timer for recording of the last shot which I do, but unfortunately not all ROs do.

I make it a habit to glance at the timer reading when I know the shooter is finished, but of course, your first priority is to ensure safety and it would be nice to be able to rely on the timer implicitly.

Walter, it takes is much longer than 5 seconds to punch every split received during a given stage or string. :D

Eugene i have never entered split times while scoring at a match!

Now it sounds like it might be a nice option for the competitor to track his progress on a match but that is not the job of the RO. However i am going to enjoy seeing how it works when i finally get mine.

Walter, you didn't get the joke... Anyhow, it is a single push of a button for RO to get all shots for the current run. That's already less typing and less mistakes because RO heard time wrong or fat-fingered a different button on a screen.

Nope! went right over my head LOL. However i did order one to play with to see what it all does. I will have to update the tablets to handle it. I am guessing that if you have the competitor app you could see your split times?

As for timer mistakes, yes they do happen which is why when i teach a RO course i tell them to always read back the time and the hits as well as try to read the time off the timer during USCHDH.

The PractiScore app shows the splits in a first place. Competitor app pulls them out of the match results and does some fancy stuff with the data - like time charts

The Commander timers are great. For dryfire at home you can turn down the beep volume and adjust the sensitivity so it will pick up the firing pin strike. I've had some connection problems with my oldest tablet but newer ones seem better at maintaining the BT connection.

We recently started using our new AMG Commander, and the Bluetooth connectivity function is great.

The variable sensitivity is a useful feature, but it seems to default to the highest setting and then needs to be manually reset to a more acceptable lower setting. (Otherwise it will pick up things like racking a slide.)

Anyone know how to make the sensitivity setting stick?

Press and hold the M button. A screen with P1 to P5 will appear. Use the left and right arrows to move between P1 and P5. Press the M button again when you have reached the number you want. Now set all your parameters. (sensitivity is the first one) Now they will stay with that preset. I have mine set as the least sensitive on P1 and the most on P5. It will even register dry fire.
