Bought a X95, took it to the range for the 1st time. No issues what so ever untill the end of the day, had a failure to go into battery. Had other rifle that I just aquired & switched to them . Take it home & clean it think that the plastic chamber flags I use may have melted some of the plastic in the chamber causing the issue, not so. Range day #2 nothing but failure to go into full battery, no I'm pissed. Shoot other riffles, head home & put it away. A few days later take it apart & inspeact everything as well as I can. Clean the rifle again, put it together and try to load a snap cap. Jammed !!!! Now I'm thinking wtf. Head off to Homedepot to buy a steel rod to knock the snap cap out of the barrel & buy a 6mm hex bit to make my own barrel removal tool. Head hope & know the snap cap out & inspect the chamber, can't see anything. Continue to take the rifle all the way down so I can realy see the chamber well. A...Ha ! I see a piece of brass stuck in the chamber. I use a pic and small screw driver to remove the jammed piece of casing from the chamber. Inspect the chamber for any scratches, all good. relube all parts & re- assemble - then test - o.k. Has anyone else have this happen to them?

My first thought when reading your description of "multiple failures to go into battery" was case head separation in the chamber. Was it reloaded ammo? Were you shooting steel case ammo before brass case? There are a number of things that can cause this.

I keep some brass rods in my range kit in case of issues like you had with the snap cap. Steel isn't good for the rifling. Crappy Tire and Home Depot sell cheap brass stock in various circumferences.

thats most likely the cause. its not impossible but pretty unlikely that there is anything wrong with your tavor. if this happens again you'll know what to look for, clear it, and then stop using that ammo and switch to some quality factory ammo, iof the problem persists then you may have a problem with your rifle but right now it sounds like you just got a bad round, thankfully nothing serious came of it.

+1 Id try factory loads
In my experience the first day I took my brand new X95 out shooting, I shot a few hundred rounds of 55gr and 62gr 5.56 American Eagle without even one hiccup in the cold of winter. 2 different mags, 2 different factory ammo and ran perfect.

do you reload, or was that factory ammo

Ive owned 4 tavors, never one problem

As others have said the root cause a brass failure. Hopefully it is a one off.

My X95 is probably my most used gun and the reliability is excellent. I run it pretty hard and often put a heap of rounds through it between cleaning sessions and its only played up once when it was disgustingly dirty, after a thorough cleaning it ran like a champ again.

If only it were a little more accurate / consistent........

Israelis uses the same 62gr SS109, and 55gr is not NATO. 55gr in M193 is straightly an American fair, the closest is the French ammo for the FAMAS but steel cased french ammo was not really intended to be NATO interchangeable, FN SS109 only came later . Saying that, testing done back in the late 80's when M16A2 and SS109 were developed actually found that the old M193 ball in the M16A2 1:7 barrel was "slightly" more accurate than the SS109 ammo back in the days.

The 1:7 barrel and 55gr incompatibility is a myth, and I suspect it has a lot to do with commercial rifles back 15 years ago liked to have 1:9 twist. The thinking back in the days seemed to avoid over stabilizing...etc etc. Practical experience shows that 55gr in 1:7 is more than fine.

I get the best consistency with M193. Ignore the 1:7 twist rate, NATO 55gr loads are what the Israelis use and I get pretty good results with it.

Strangely mine is the same, I seem to do best with lighter bullets.

I love the X95 but it is an enigma of a gun.

Hornady superformance 53 grain v max best factory load I’ve shot out of a few tavors also AE 55grain 223 is great for cheap bulk

What optics you run on your x95? Mine is 9mm but still love it to bits!

That's the Vortex Razor AMG UH-1 Holographic Sight with their 3x micro magnifier.

Mine is 5.56 and I have a Trijicon Accupower 1-8x on it.

I like both and they work well together but they are both on the porky side so it ain't the lightest rig, but with the Bullpup design all the weight is at the rear which makes all the difference.

Damn, that looks nice! Got pics?
