On the above mentioned website look under the “Land and Animals” tab. The province is looking for input from the public through an online questionnaire “to develop a new and improved wildlife management and habitat conservation strategy for British Columbia.” The online questionnaire started November 22nd and runs until January 9, 2020.

Lets flood this with common sense!

It is current. Not easy to navigate but necessary.
Please contribute. In my area many things are in crisis, fish have disappeared in a massive mountain lake, big game hunting has all but disappeared. Predators are out of control. Caribou funding was 50 million +/- for 2019. Roughly 250k+ per animal .
Crazy for an animal that can not be saved.(Quoted from the biologist in charge)
Lets admit defeat move on to a project we can save.

Notwithstanding the recognised Treaty and other aboriginal rights to hunt, I am VERY concerned about goal #5.

If you live in the northeast where - for several years - a regional version of this type of thing has been in place with Treaty 8 , you know what I mean.

As an example, pretty much EVERY fish & wildlife related permit (aside from general hunting licenses) requires a review by First Nations. Their capacity is limited, and so this takes a minimum 60 days. Everything has ground to a halt. Nobody will go on record because it's not PC, but all regional gov't biologists say this was a horrible mistake.

It will now be expanded and rolled out Province-wide, in the name of reconciliation and UN proclamation. Unless the capacity for First Nations to take on these new roles and responsibilities (in a timely manner) is vastly improved, get ready for extreme frustration and for effective wildlife management (what little there may have been previously, depending on perspective) to cease entirely. Be warned.
