Where is this headed?

Why don't we grab our pitchforks and torches and March on Ottawa? Show them that we aren't messing around and we will not be silent. We will be heard and we will be listened to.

I'm so sick and tired of this ####ing clown and his band of idiots. IItsnot just my guns he wants. he is ####ing with my career and way of life too. I'm ready to go to Ottawa and chain myself to the door of the parliament building and not let anyone in. I will protest. I will stand up and shout. Talking about it on the internet accomplishes nothing. Action speak louder than words.

With all do respect sir read the Criminal Code or ask a lawyer, it’s illegal to posses or own a firearm in Canada. Period.

Your PAL/RPAL is a conditional exemption as determined by the Firearm ACT. Those laws are the results in which our forefathers fought for, in which I agree.
Remember you taking the course for your license? That was the condition you needed to fulfill and pass. Then you need CFO / RCMP approval and screening. That’s another condition. And remember it can be revoked if the conditions aka legislation changes or even if they see you unfit. They don’t even have to determine your legal rights.
They could even determine you mentally unfit under the Canadian Mental Health ACT as a threat to yourself. Your family could even get a court order against you. So be careful what you wish for. Ranting about guns could be misinterpreted in the wrong company.
Threaten the government they could potentially take manifold actions. They could easy label noncompliance as a public safety or even a mental health issue if they had supporting data. I would not want to test their will. Just saying.

Firearm ownership is not a constitutional right, or every Canadian would own a firearm unconditionally. Tyrannical or not this is not 1776 or 1812. Enough said from my end. I am not a lawyer but I have seen other things over the years, for what it’s worth ...2 c.

Unfortunately some of what you say is true. This has been a UN plan to disarm all civilians and see that only the military and police have firearms. I am fairly certain there use to be an Anglo-Saxon law from the 1800's that protected Canadians and gave us a right to bear arms. I use to have a copy of this information but it has been misplaced. I cannot find any evidence on the internet of this Anglo-Saxon right. I'm sure someone out there knows what I am referring to.

I have not threatened anyone, the government or anybody else, this would be very foolish. This current government has an agenda to disarm all civilians of AR-15 type rifles. I listened to Billy call AR-15 rifles "Assault Rifles", when they are Arma-lite rifles or a patrol carbine. Labelling a tool or firearm with a bad name does not make it bad. Some people are bad.

This proposed ban will only be the start my friend, handguns will be next, then all semi-auto rifles, then bolt actions, lever actions and all guns period.

Bad people and gangs are the problem, not law abiding Canadians that like to hunt, trap, fish, sport shoot or just collect guns. The government knows this, but they have a larger agenda. It's called United Nations control over the people.

And yes, I am very aware of the criminal code, been working with it for close to 30 years now.......:)

What amazes me is that from all the posts by dealers over the past day or two one might think it was “business as usual”...if only that could be believed:-(

Denial at its finest

1st post, been lurking and reading for awhile on the 2 other threads Wolverine started regarding this issue.

Personally I find the situation we’re in absolutely appalling. Our public servants have taken control of the media and are using it to subvert public opinion. They dance on the graves of victims such as those from Polytechnique, Quebec City, The Danforth etc. Lying through their teeth the whole time and failing to provide actual statistics on gun crime. It’s disgusting to say the least and anyone who is familiar with the subject matter can see their move to disarm the population has ulterior motives. Whether it’s simple vote-buying or something more sinister I don’t know. But based on this current government’s track record it reeks of authoritarianism to me. The fact they’re using an OIC with a minority government is extremely in-democratic and just adds fuel to the fire.

Some like to point out that “Canadians don’t have a right to bear arms” and I’m sorry to tell you that you couldn’t be further from the truth. Rights are intrinsic to human existence. Governments are not in the business of granting rights, only listing which rights they will do their best to not infringe upon (The Charter of rights and freedoms for example). Reasonable self defence is a human right. Having a militarized police force with APCs, Multicam, and “mILitArY sTylE asSaUlt wEaPOnS” and then preventing citizens from owning semi-automatics is extremely contrarian. The government should fear the people, not the other way around.

Here’s a “Coles notes” list of statistics and facts you can use when having civil discussions with your friends/family/co-workers/neighbours/MP (ideally your MP):

Cancer kills 80,000 Canadians/year

Diabetes and heart disease combined kill 60,000 Canadians/year

Medical Malpractice kills 30,000 Canadians/year (the last time the stats were released was 2014, still an outrageously large number)

Accidents kill 12,000 Canadians/year

Drunk Drivers kill 1500 Canadians/year

Firearms account for 250 murders/year in Canada. Of which, we can’t be sure how many came from south of the border, but it’s relatively safe to assume most criminals wouldn’t submit to a long application process and daily background check.

And the dreaded AR15 hasn’t actually ever been used in a murder in Canada. It unfortunately left a bystander paralyzed during a botched mob hit in 2004, but nothing more.

Additionally, I think it’s important to be able to provide examples of how we can effectively cut down gun homicides in this country:

-Extremely harsh penalties for “straw man” purchasing and firearms related charges(unlawful possession, use in shootings/attempted shootings).

-CBSA task force to combat smuggling from the USA.

-Funding police services to actually be able to trace the origin of illegal firearms seized from gangs/organized crime.

-increasing youth outreach programs in low-income areas so that they aren’t recruited by gangs.

-Drastically increasing the funding to mental healthcare to hopefully prevent a good number of suicides and potentially active shooters as well.

Sorry for the novel, hoping to inspire some actual action on the issue instead of just angry forum arguments. Maybe a march in Ottawa/at your MP’s office, especially if they’re liberals.

Ugh, i literally feel sick to my stomach after watching that horse ####! The reporter screeching about the mini-14 really sounded like she was sporting a massive justice boner. I guess no one thinks there's even a hint of a chance that a new grandfather class will come out of this eh? I think focusing on what this useless effort will cost needs to be front and center. The "hardware" buy-back cost would be a drop in the bucket compared to the associated administrative costs. We all know how efficient the Canadian Govt. is when it comes to sweeping/controversial projects.

The administration cost is part of why the lieberals are doing this. They will make administration a giant bureaucracy in some corner of the country, like Miramachi, except a different corner. Become the largest employer there, own those seats forever. The only thing saving us is it may take some time to figure out how to skim and kickback to party members.

Who actually believes it cost 2 billion dollars for the LGR. I have a piece of land, perfect for a overpass in Brampton......cheap.

We are discussing options. That is why I started this thread. Whatever we do it needs to be done by thousands of people - not one business, or Canadian, acting alone, will have any success.

here is the single best thing you as a business could do. Source AR-15 lowers and offer them to everyone with a RPAL that does not already have an AR-15 registered for under $50-100 delivered. Bump AR ownership numbers up considerably and then surely a lawyer on here can come up with step by step directions on tying up the legal system when the ban comes. Not quite civil disobedience but as close as one can come to it.

Arms of Asise? Rights of Man. English Common Law.

"The Legal basis for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms in Canada.
Many Canadians believe (and our government would certainly have us believe) that there is no Right of the citizen to keep arms for their own use and defense, like the US Second Amendment, in Canadian law. To those citizens, I would suggest a bit of reading up on our own history and legal framework. Our right to bear arms is not mentioned in recent documents such as the Constitution or Charter because it's already stated elsewhere in Canadian law. Our right to keep and bear arms in our own or the country's defense comes from exactly the same place as the American one -- English Common Law, the English Bill of Rights 1689, the writings of Sir William Blackstone in his Commentaries on English Law, and others. All these laws (and indeed the full body of English Law), became part of Canadian law on our Confederation in 1867 with the affirmation of the British North America (BNA) Act. We have this Right, though our government is attempting to suppress it and deny citizen's their age-old right to self-defense with the egregious and unconstitutional (not to mention horrendously expensive) Firearms Act and other proposals. It leads one to wonder why the government so wants an unarmed and defenceless populace"

Sir
I am very familiar with past laws and documents, but if it is not held up in court like you know, it means very little and it’s an opinion.
Someone may think they the right to armed self defence but go exercise that in court it may fly but is very iffy. Ask a few lawyers out of curiosity maybe you have but it may not act in your favour.

This whole gun buy back thing is certainly an opinion, largely shared by ruling parties and most Canadians, correct or not, but when it becomes law it precedes all else. Hence the term “takes legal precedence”. So unless all the interested parties invest in a legal battle for their (perceived right to bear)rights, they may be spending their money defending their rights.

So everyone has their right to an opinion. I responded as people responded to my post. You guys want a tactical squad show up at your door, handcuff you in front your neighbours, seize your firearms and fight an uphill legal battle while in custody, hey go ahead. I don’t. It’s a risk I am not willing to take. I still believe in our system and if I support it as its the only system that protects the common good of our society even with its flaws. To me that takes precedence.

The best part is that banning guns will have zero effect.
Most law abiding citizens will keep there property.
Criminals will still have, use, and buy and sell guns.
There is absolutely no way for the government to get all guns.
It will just increase the black market demand for them, and thus put more money in the hands of criminals.

A government that gives millions to terrorists, gives little to injured soldiers, and then on top of it seeks to disarm the people they are supposed to be working for, has lost all credibility or mandate to govern. History shows us where this leads, either resist now (non violently and all together) or lose any ability to resist in the future.

He's still laughing....at all of us...........imagine how different his income and treatment by the government would be if he was one of Canada's veterans not a murderous terrorist.......

Canadians need to see a demonstration how safe all firearm owners are.

All firearm owners need to do is drive the speed limit and obey all traffic laws safely and lawfully........a few days and the government will be crawling on its hands and knees for it to stop.

Apparently speed limit on highways is not 130-140 but 100 kph.

Always wait the required time at every light, turn and stop sign. Do not turn or merge until and unless you can do so completely safely.

Do not enter enter intersections when the light changes until you are certain it is safe to do so. Always stop for the Amber light when safe to do so.

Slow is safe and you are obeying the law. Nobody is blocking or impeding traffic because nobody has to......

So all firearm owners do this......

Now, why would this be controversial? We are obeying the law right?

That is what they want. Ok. We can start with seeing how traffic works during a period of safe driving and the result.

Will some people be mad. Sure but they hate us anyway and we are not going to get anywhere being doormats.

That is what got us here.

Nobody is doing anything wrong by driving the speed limit etc while it is a solid demonstration of activism and a demonstration of solidarity and our presence in society and the need to cooperate with us and above all safety.

It is not our obligation to speed etc because other people are going to be late for work. That is their problem and they should have gotten up earlier or moved closer to their job.

Or get the government to raise the speed limit, build more roads, mass transit etc......

Not our problem.

But it will get attention and has leverage.

No reason other citizens should be upset......they don't want us to be unsafe apparently so the lesson will be learned and then taught.

If they don't like it they can take it up with the government.

I wasn't going against your opinion just posting what has been written like you say "in the past". Like I give a $#it what my neighbors think they have already shown there cards they are the ones that voted to destroy the FA community with there "fanatical ideologies " and unwillingness to listen to truth, but rather to be led by lies while allowing gangs/criminals to dance in the streets. The time will come when crime comes to there door and they will pray that they were taken away in handcuffs instead of an ambulance. I have no respect for these people any longer, with there misguided anger, and there slogans of "love for all hatred for none" if they only looked in the mirror so they could see how ugly they are maybe then they would understand there "narcissism". And may the Gods look down upon them with unbridled mercy as they make there way to the steeples to wash there sins away only to return to there ways the following week, may tyranny and strife fall upon them and there children for there misguided way. Pray they must and pray they will, but no amount of praying will save then from there misguided selves.
