Under-indexed Barrel on New S&W 66...

If purchased by credit card just call your CC company and file a complaint.
They will refund you, take money back from Tenda, and believe me Tenda will want to be in contact with you now.

I only pay CC now since I have been badly burned a few times.
Ironically since using CC, and fortunately too, I never had anything else happen.

My 686 barrel is over torqued like the OP's 66. The crappy thing is that they bead blasted the sightline "straight" so that if I did straighten the barrel, the bead blasted sightline would look canted and I would be increasing the cylinder gap by a few thou and possibly a loose barrel if I don't shim it. Arghhh.

Apparently this is very common on S&W revolvers at least the 686/586 series. I wonder if the Performance Center ones are hand picked and straight?

It sounds like issues in general are common with SW these days. As I mentioned earlier the cylinder gap on my 686 is so tight I don't have a feeler small enough to measure it, which would put it under 0.001".

I agree, I can't force them to though. As I said they are outright ignoring me. I have sent multiple emails and called and spoke with them, nothing is being done for me so far.

If it's recent, and you paid by Visa, get the card involved. Otherwise, throw a Better Business Bureau complaint their way. I can't see why a defective gun is any different than any other defective item - it should go back to the store that sold it, for replacement or refund (including shipping costs!), and they should send it back to where they got it, for refund or replacement, etc.

I have a 586 about 6 or 7 years old that's off the other direction slightly, and an old 66 from the early 80's that's the same. I didn't notice either until a while after I had bought them, now that I've read about Murray Charleton retiring I wish I would have sent them in a few years ago. Did you get yours fixed OP?

Much ado about nothing. Looks fine, just shoot it.

Would you buy a brand new car if the bumper was crooked? Are you just going to accept it? Or put in a house window and its not square? It has a rib for a reason, if its not lined up then its not proper. I just sent a NEW H&R shotgun to warranty because the rib was crooked.

For the most part. Its actually indexed a little too far the other way now... Whatever though, it stopped moving and my experience was so frustrating I am just going to move on. I really, really like how this gun fits and handles. Just too bad about the issues I had.
