Remington 740 with high grade wood, etc

There’s a reason it sold in a couple minutes, 740 and all. Would you lose your dinner if I showed you a $13,000-22,000 740? They exist. $1500 for this one isn’t even a stretch. You can’t even make the stock for $1500, so, that’s not at all out of line for the whole rifle.

The wood would sell for the same price without the action...

Yes because it was pretty, in 308 and a carbine. Don't care if the stock is gold and some have 1 million dollar ones
They are not a quality built firearm and if shot more than a few rounds a year it will be a wall hanger so what is it really worth
They had design issues big time, remington don't fix them any more, smith's can't and parts don't exist
Lightly used and kept well cleaned it will be Ok and was a win/win for both seller and buyer at the price it sold for
Just my 2 cents from owning and working on them over the years
