Battle Rifle Postal Match

Well, I was out shooting today and thought I'd try all Classes, but I forgot mags for the M14 :jerkit: and the VZ52/57 had (and still has) a fired case jammed in the chamber.
So... for me it was a Colt AR15 Sporter Match with Irons, and a Sig PE-90 with a Nightforce. I fired three groups with each, and the third group of both are shown. All fired from the 100m

Wow! Some nice shooting there beltfed.
I was also out today. Never did any where as well as beltfed. :redface:
I also, missed the part about being able to shoot 3 stages. Oh well, probably wouldn't have made any difference anyway.
I've also came to a decision that I don't like sitting. Damn it's hard to hit that little piece of paper without any support.
Anyway, here's are my embrassments to the match and a couple of pictures of me sighting in the rifles (didn't help much. The Garand was still shooting low and the AR was high. hehe!)
Still, it was alot of fun and I can't wait to try October's match. :D

I sent mine in this evening. Went to the range, sighted in the new AR that I built for my wife on the 50 yd range, then moved over to the 100. Shooting with Eotech I managed to put four shots on target, only missed the paper with one. Had a blast though. I was going to shoot my Norinco with iron sights also, but forgot to bring extra ammo and by the time I dinked around trying to get the scope that I just remounted sighted in I didn't have 20 rounds left. Finally took the scope off and went to the IS. Was fun but I'll have to go back later this week and shoot some targets with that rifle. I am looking forward to improving my scores dramatically, even though I probably won't be competitive at this point. I am having a good time and that is what counts.

So I dug out my digital camera (vs cell phone camera) took some shots. Here is my target and a picture of me looking all serious and holding the rifle. Sorry about the barrel. I had to use the self timer and try to prop the camera on the coffee table. It actually has a slightly longer barrel than shows in the picture. LOL.

Beltfed...good shooting mate! Officially, the extra point is only awarded if your extra photo includes your rifles, the setting, and YOU!

Orvis: Shooting three stages might be a curse instead of a blessing....especially with a rifle as heavy as a garand or an M1A. I find that my second string is usually my best, as by the third I am starting to fatigue and can't hold the rifle steady enough.

What do we get for BEST results? Bragging rights? I know it's for fun and appreciate that as it's a fun sport to be involved ... was just curious if anyone was going to DONATE something as a prize? I've printed off my targets and am going to ask "catworks" on the board if he wants to go to the range tonight with myself and do this competition ... great GREAT idea Brobee! Cheers,

Maybe I'll run out this weekend and get the VZ and M14 targets.;)

Beltfed: Posting them is sufficient....however e-mail makes my life easier as I don't have to watch the various forums as closely and I can throw them into a seperate folder for processing all at once.

My understanding of shooting stances in competitions (such as service conditions) is that a 'support' is an immobile object, such as a bench rest, rucksack, tree, whatever. "Sitting unsupported" is a position where the rifle is supported only by your appendages, and your butt has to be in contact with the ground. You can do sitting unsupported with crossed legs, open legs, or crossed ankles (the one I used).

Pm me, and we'll see if we can't set up a time to go shoot this w/o the wankers around. I've had luck to date, as I'm currently in 'project definition' mode in the real life job.
So far, no probs, early AM, in the middle of the week (you are a 'member', correct?). Sucks if you're tryin' on the weekends- don't even bother shooting the rifle range, as it's 'open to the public', and range nazis rule...

cancer: OldGravy has it bang-on as far as I'm concerned....have at 'er with your elbows on your knees! I find I can only sometimes do this, the determining factor being terrain. If my target is downhill from my sitting position I'm good to go. If I'm sitting on a side slope at all, it costs me too much tension and I find I do better bringing my trigger arm up off the knee.

Sweet, love the link to the targets. I will be taking out the M305 on Monday and trying my hand at it. I will post pics when I am done...unless it is reeeaaallly embarrassing.
