6.5 CM 95 Vmax

Gonna load of some Horn 95 gr V max ers in 6.5 CM brass ! Now What Powder etc to use ? lol RJ

IMR 4166 works well with 100gr Amax in my new Tikka 260

I'm going to be loading the 95 grain Vmax as well and have the IMR4895, powder I'd used with my 6.5 Swede...lots left over so I thought what the hell. My Lyman book recommends Varget or IMR4350 as best loads depending on bullet grain. For the 95 grain vmax they recommend Varget as their number one powder...For 140 grain it's Imr4350.
For the 95 grain I'm going with the 4895 just because I have the powder...We'll see how it works out.

I read up a bit and some Guys have good Luck with Varget and the 95 V max - Its a BIT faster then the Usual 6.5 CM powders but i have only a 20 " tube and a 1-8 twist - i don't want to shoot them too fast - Might work OK so i have loaded up a few ! We will see - RJ

I loaded 41.5 with a BR2 at 2.675 coal - Will Give them a whirl and JUST see ! RJ

The 4895 looks promising. Is that out of a 1-8 twist rate barrel ?

The Varget had one group that was the smallest over all, but the 4895 was more consistent,with most all groups .
It is from a rem 783 6.5 CM , 16 inch barrel with a 1-8 twist.

Awsom thanks I have the same rifle and haven't found a good load for it yet all my other 6.5 have liked 140ish grain bullets I'll have to try the lighter ones then .

Kool thats the load i have loaded for mine what COAL did you use i went 2.675 puts the bullet base at the bottom of the neck - RJ

2710 as that was the coal listed in the book.
I was going to try some closer to the lands, as 2710 leaves about 85 thou jump.

2710 is working well , I’ll probably just stay around that.
4895 and Varget are both working well.
Varget likes the top load and bit over.
You shouldn’t have any trouble with those powders.
I tryed h4350 and it didn’t to well.
