Hey everyone, thinking about putting an aftermarket recoil pad on my Rem 788 6mm Rem. I know 6mm's don't kick that bad but just got 150 rounds loaded and think it might help a bit and could handle a little more LOP.
Anyone have any experience that might save me a few trips back and forth to the shop. Have looked at Remington super cell and Linbsaver just not sure where to start for size. I'm expecting some fitting
Thanks

Take it to a reputable gunsmith and have a limbsaver fitted correctly if you have never installed recoil pads it is not a easy task . You either need a jig or lots of experience doing it free hand

Usually a grind to fit will look the best. Can be done yourself if you are handy...and careful. I've done several and they turned out fine.

Nice looking 788. Decent wood on that one. The limbsavers are great, might have to find a trim to fit, but most of the manufacturers list models available.

Thanks, Dont see them in Walnut very often. Most of the one's i see are very plane and Beach I think.

First two years were walnut. Best sell me that stock and fit a pad to another!

You can see the little crescent moons here. I've got several Beech stocks that have that long straight heavy grain pattern, always a few little moons to give it away though.
