IPSC 1 match/year?

If some people are disappointed with the way the site is now, maybe instead of screaming bloody murder they could offer there time, expertise, and volunteer some time to there own sport. I am sure IPSC could use some motivated personnel as you might be aware it takes a lot to sign up new members, teach BB courses, organize matches, book match venues, set up match equipment, tear down match equipment, set up book practice sessions, etc. And have a life, if you or prehaps others can do better, by all means step up and help grow your sport, and show the rest of us how it's done. Well said.
I don't know who this Euxx guy thinks he is, but he should volunteer to fix the site if he hates it so much!!

Don't know what the site was like prior to Jan 2019, when I first set eyes upon it, and as I stated previously I found everything I needed, including the downloadable BB Training Program, policies and procedure pdf, IPSC Handgun rulebook, IPSC Divisions List, Etc.

Although I am not a BB recipient yet, I am working my way towards that goal putting in the time needed in acquiring the requested 1000rd min on your HG and considering I am training for two divisions that would make 2000rds. Including the requested mandatory 9 out of 10 into a 12"X12" target at 25 yds is no cake walk, as well I will be taking a holster/training course also requested prior to BB course. I will also be inquiring at my local range if I could volunteer at the IPSC/IDPA nights to help grow the sport for all the ones who can't or don't want to help themselves.

1ABNDT,
Your statement would likely apply to 90%+ of the posters on this forum, but it’s obvious you don’t know who euxx is or what he has done for IPSC over the years. Trust me when I tell you euxx is extremely highly regarded for his significant and ongoing contributions to our game!

I am not doubting euxx on his skill, contributions, or his regard for the sport . I stated, I as a new FA enthusiast did not find the website overly confusing and was able to find all said course requirements, rules, policies, contacts, and procedures. And I could not understand why others found it so difficult and there struggle and angry over it. As much as the whole BB/IPSC course/competition's, are about safety, knowledge and respect. They are also about adapting, to the unknown, ones confidence, beliefs, course layout/conditions, weather, pressure from self and competitors alike. Those same skills should and can be transferred to everyday life, including a website. Its just a matter of how you adapt to the knowledge learned and implement it
I also had a question about the program and contacted my local BB instructor, JE. Who responded in a timely manner with enthusiasm and readiness to work with me when I was ready. I can't ask for much more than that, I think the rest is up to me and how I adapt..

Let's just say that euxx gave away that same web site thing on the first demand and since then been watching it being degraded. The irony is that people who demanded and claimed the site ownership aren't capable of doing anything with it.

Regarding web site users, some have patience to look trough the whole site and some aren't. When people are asking questions elsewhere with answers saved on some other (and official) web site, it is a uuuge red sign that official web site is not doing any good to provide information people are looking for.

As for JE, I've known him for number of years. You might have got lucky and your question hit an enthusiastic period and he is a talker. I also seen some questions and tasks haven't been completed for years, especially with JE currently being an Ontario membership director.

I don't hate site or individuals. But I do find them pathetic. Especially if you read their election platforms over the years.

PS: pauls should remember the "north american championship" story (or was it panam?)...

Op said he didn't bother joining the on ipsc webpage. If he did and took the time to read, he would have found the answer.

CGN is the only forum I regularly visit, and that is mostly due to volume on this site. Answers are generally provided by those in the know very quickly, as opposed to many of the league or range specific forums boards who only have a few active members. I posted the question here, hoping to get an answer faster than I could have found it searching myself.

As to EUXX, you guys are barking up the wrong tree suggesting he should volunteer more. He is very active, and gives more to the sport than 99% of PAL holders.

Oh, I'd be very, very wary of that!
The best and safest source of information for IPSC in Canada is a direct email to the section or section coordinator in your province.

Yeah, No. It not difficult to go to IPSC Canada, info/links, "sections" go to your province, IPSC Ontario, "contact". :) Its not a tooth puller process, quit making it out to be one. Just out of curiosity, are you still involved with any part of IPCS euxx.

Ooohhh ..that’s pretty funny ...and now you’ve reeaally stirred the pot.

What part of “euxx ....significant and ongoing contributions to our game!” did you not understand?

Nothing funny about it, and not trying to stir the pot, it's the plain and simple truth. Mr. Representative.

I tried contacting them 4 times regarding black badge over a 7 week period, without a single response. I came here posted a thread, and in a few hours was registered in a course. This time I went straight to step 2.

Sometimes you get the right answer right away, sometimes not, but CGN has been my most reliable source of info regarding guns in Canada, and easily the fastest.

I agree though, when asking for free advice, you get what you pay for.

See, Sean. Maybe yhis should be a NEC and regional requirement to have sections to reply within some minimun time window. That, or have a regional system for registering for BB courses

... except that on the phone Contact is hidden under popup menu and Contact section at the bottom is empty

Phone contact, theres no physical office with phones. Who you going to call, Ghostbusters. Thats maybe why the Contact section at bottom is empty, try clicking on the names on the left under "important contacts" while your there "click" Web team" and file your complaint. Seems to me its email contact only as per other province websites as well.

Ability for shooters to find a Black Badge course absolutely needs to be improved. Constantly hearing from shooters that are interested in IPSC that they find or found it very difficult to locate a Black Badge Course, as often no one responds to their emails and they don’t have access to our IPSC calendar to locate an upcoming BB course in their area. I myself found it challenging to get a response and find a course when I started...and i’m a patient persistent dog with a bone sort.

Our website should really have a separate calendar listing of all of our upcoming BB courses and an email or alternative method of contacting the BB instructor to enquire about availability and book a spot that is open and available to those interested. Current antiquated system heavily favours shooters that are well connected or shooting at a club with an established IPSC and or Black Badge program.

Edit to add: And the much bigger picture is if we don’t ‘come out’ and try and grow our sport and increase overall awareness of what it is we do, we will seriously risk losing it completely. How many of you tell friends or acquaintances that you shoot ipsc (or 3 Gun or Idpa, etc.) and they say ‘what’s that?’. Then you show them and they say, ‘WOW, I had no idea we could own much less shoot guns in a sport like this in Canada.’ Then ask, ‘how do I get started myself?’. We do need to make it easier for them to get started.

I forgot that phones can be used to talk to other peoples...

My reference was to viewing the web site on the phone as many people do now. Having no section coordinator email on the front page is disturbing signal. Having two places on web site with contact info is stupid and a sign that people don't care or have no clue

Thing is, it is not our web site. It is theirs web site. The one that was ours used to have BB calendar and match list was also open. But then BB coordinator wasn't posting courses there and section president were saying it out loud that section has too many members. The current president is a buddy of that one. I'm looking forward for him gone

This happens to me constantly. I talk about guns with allot of people almost everyday, and many retort "Handguns sound fun, but standing at a bench and shooting at a bullseye does not." Then I show them some IPSC or similar videos and they light up with excitement. Even the anti's eyes open up sometimes when they realize we actually do have "shooting sports" other than traditional shotgun games.
