Why do we start to Hate some calibers?

I don't really dislike any specific cartridge...however, once the Liberals get into full swing and we are only allowed to own 1 gun I can say with certainty it won't be a 270 win....:(

I don't hate any "cartridge," I like them all, I just prefer some cartridges over others. Recent generations dislike the good old 30-06, I happen to love it! It's a proven cartridge which is most adequate for all North American big game, and for most African plains game. As for the 6.5 Creedmoor, it's a really nice little cartridge, however it's not part of my "preferred" cartridges, moreover, the hype on social media and other informative sources is a bit overwhelming.

The disdain for said cartridge equally so.

I hate the short action Winchester short Mags.... why things were good. why mix it up and mess up a good thing.

I don't get it, plus its stupid marketing. Try explaining to your wife when she asks......

so I hate WSM and i don't care what everyone thinks.... Change my mind. my 270win and 300win are perfect... I don't need or like a short fat cartridge.

6.5 Creedmoor, because of the fan boy drool all over it.

It's a decent mild velocity 6.5mm for an AR10 length magazine. But in bolt actions with a 2.95" magazine, it's too short of a case for peak performance. I would understand the Creedmoor mania if it was for the 6mm or 22 variants; IMO it's just not enough case capacity to push a 6.5.

I wish some company would standardize a 260 Remington 30° Improved at Creedmoor pressures. Now that would be ideal for a .473" bolt face in a short action.

Ouch. Nice one, Rob. All hail the new king...6.5 Creedmoor. :p

No need to hail anything.
Nor is there a king of anything....

When I'm drivin' in my car, and the man come on the radio
He's tellin' me more and more about some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination...

When I'm watchin' my TV and a man comes on and tells me
How white my shirts can be
But, he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarettes as me..

Bring what you wanna shoot and run with it , cause after all its yours and there likely isnt another one like it.

Still looking...Tika has one in wood and blued, but I aint much of a fan for Tika either, but

....... and WWI as well. I wouldn't expect the Germans to be too excited over the 303 British either.

....... that fits better in a short action & has better ammo & product support from the makers.

Funny thing is that in last 2 decades the 30-06 has gotten popular among the Germans. Are they forgetting that many of their grandfathers were shot and killed by it?

I had a great uncle and grandpa who fought in the Romanian army and died at the hands of the Soviets and Germans in World war II. Doesn't change my view towards a cartridge or weapon. My personal favorite cartridge is actually the 8x57 and I prefer it to be in a Mauser style rifle. Nothing evil about it.

Do you dis-like soviet cartridges aswell? We've had Canadians die in North Korea and Vietnam. Most likely by 7.62x54 and 7.62x39

Do not hate any but have to question why some of the newer ones exist. Some of these are a fad that will disappear in a few short years.

I've never been a fan of any Magnum cartridge. I've never seen the need for any of them for any of the types of hunting I've encountered. Now, that being said, I can certainly understand their desirability for mountain or plains game hunting. Flatter trajectory for longer range shots and still putting down a lot of energy when the bullet gets there is a desirable quality for those who live and hunt in those area's. I live in a very thickly forested region of the boreal. In my area, unless one hunts exclusively over open water or in recently cut area's, magnum cartridges don't offer much to the user except increased recoil, increased report and longer, more unwieldy barrels. To me, those qualities aren't desirable. But to others they're just fine. And that's okay. I'm glad we have options.

All that being said, I have a T3 in 300WSM with a 24" barrel coming in a few weeks. So maybe that rifle will change my mind about everything I've just written. And if it doesn't, I'll sell it or rebarrel it to 35 Sambar with a 20" tube, B&C stock, iron sights and a 2.5-8x36 VX-3i in quick detach rings. A heavy hitting little carbine like that would be right up my alley.

So that people continue to buy guns so that the manufacturers can stay in business. Without new sales gun factories will continue to close.

Yup... same thing that drives every equipment industry... ie. Golf and Guns... gotta come up with new stuff and convince us that we can hit it straighter and shoot it longer... just have to part with some hard earned cash.

#2 Robertson is great, except it doesn't work for drywall screws. Need Phillips for that to work right.

And that's all it's good for! I mostly hate Phillips. Torx is where it's at. I always smile when I need to take something apart and see Torx heads. It'll snap the screw head off before it slips :).

Throughout the history of cartridges, some have been successful and some have not, and gun enthusiasts have grumbled about "why do we have these newfangled cartridges?"

In 1925 people grumbled about why we needed the 270 Winchester, when the 30-06 was all that was required. :)
