I've an x bolt that seems to have the scope mount holes drilled out of line with the bore. I purchased it on here and the previous owner bought it from? So no receipt.

What are my options with this one?

The scope mounts have been un and reinstalled. Lapping the rings showed material coming off on opposite sides.

I would suggest the simple solution without having to send it off would be to get a set of Burris Signature Zee rings with the insert offsets. Those should solve your alignment issues with any luck and your back in business.

Try Leupold standard bases & rings with the windage adjustable rear, or Burris Signature Zee rings mounted on Warne steel weaver style bases.

22-250.

How much can either of these correct? With a piece of dead straight 1" dowel in the lapped rings with the muzzle and dowel end lined up the dowel is an easy half inch off center of the barrel

Leupold turn in front base and windage adjustable rear base can easily correct it... I still suggest a gunsmith too.

My LGS dosent sell Browning products. The prop does however stock Leupold windage adjustable X-B bases for all the nimrods that show up with a new browning X-B with a scope mounted in browning branded Talley one piece ring base combos. Funny to see the look on the faces of these dudes when the rifle is put in the cradle and the misalignment it pointed out. Have seen it on BLR rifles as well.

Run a piece of string along the top of the rifle from the front sight to the back of the bolt, it'll help show how much the holes are out

I'd wheel it into a browning dealer and have them start a service claim. Their website shows 2 in Smithers Cam. Any chance you could share a photo of it with the dowel?
