spotting scope or binoculars?

I'm after something for the range out to 350 yards so do I go spotting scope or binoculars and whats the cheapest option before its worthless buying it?
I've seen a Bushnell trophy extreme on sale for $299 and the same thing locally for $200 and also another brand at Canadian tire for $50
Or do I go Bushnell 10x42 binos on sale for $60?

CTC only good to about 50 m. Was great inside at 25 but not so great outside for longer distances.
Get a good tripod and consider an angled scope rather than a straight one. With practice prone or on decent size bench you can see through the scope with out moving your head too much and having to set your self up again for the next shot. Have very good 10x42 binoculars and they will not cut it at that range for a target.
 
I bought a cheap Bushnell 20-60x60 on sale for under $200 a couple of years ago...OK at 50m, sort of useable at 100m but not fun...barely useable at 200m...It served its purpose but now I am shopping around for something better...everything I have read seems to indicate you have to spend at least $1K for something even approaching decent...Many, many options out there in that price range...spoke to a dealer who sells Sightron, (a good quality Japanese optic line)...he pointed out that much of the high-end stuff is for folks, I.e. bird watchers, who need the vivid colours...target shooters only really need good contrast - black/white - and he urged me to concentrate my research on that facet...good advice, I think...BTW, if you are interested in my Bushnell I can do you a sweet deal :)
 
I bought a cheap $100 (regular price, I only paid $40) spotting scope from crappy tire. Great for 50yds, decent for 30cal at 100yds, 22cal @100 is doable but not easy - you spend a lot of time going "I think there's a hole there?"...

No way this scope would be of any use at 350. Nor would anything with 10x magnification IMO, so count the binos out too. I've heard good things about the Diamondback spotting scopes as far as entry level goes, but they're still like $600 at full retail. I have been tempted to try out the Leupold Marksman spotter, it goes on sale for $350 regularly, however I'm worried it would leave me wishing I saved more money, and it's hard to compare them at Cabelas where you can only look so far and you're bombarded with the bright lights of the store.

Didn’t know those were a thing! Probably the best option if you don’t plan to glass for game while hunting. The price is quite reasonable when compared to buying a decent spotting scope as well!
 
A note to anyone buying, get the retailer to test the big plastic clamp that holds the camera to the main pole. There was a batch of weak clamps. My unit had one, but it was replaced by the manufacturer, in the interim I bought a clamp from amazon, and used an old neck from an old goosneck lamp, works great. The replacement clamp from the manufacturer works fine.
 
As someone who bought cheap 10x42 bino's off amazon, I can attest that you will need a proper spotting scope to see (with clarity) at 100y and up.......
There is a reason why expensive scopes/glass exist.

Not to side track the thread, but can anyone recommend a decent medium to high powered scope for a .308 Bolt gun?
I am new to long range shooting, but would like to "buy once, cry once" as much as I can.

I would rather spend 1k-1.5k on something that I wont have to upgrade, then spend $500 , then 1k, then 1.5k .

Im not looking at S&B $4,500 optics, but can anyone recommend a decent mid-range scope that will allow me to go to 600-700 yards?
