Consignment Royal Naval Air Service Remington Model 14 1/2

Just received in this awesome piece of history today. Remington Model 14 1/2 Royal Naval Air Service rifle in 44-40. Serial number dates its manufacture to 1914 wood and metal are in good condition for a piece that is over a century old there is some extremely minor pitting on the top of the receiver and there are some nicks and dings in the stock. Rifle functions fine we ran 5 rounds through the rifle action is extremely smooth and trigger is quite good.

No idea but my guess would be a survival rifle since its take down.

They were originally intended for use on small naval craft like trawlers and mine sweeper boats but where given to aircrews as armament before mounting guns on Airplanes was common from the research we have found.

There was another sold on rock island auction. Still a cool piece of history!

Supposed to have been 4000 made for the Brits and proofed by Canada. I've got 3, and they are amazing rifles! Still a great under 100 yard whitetail cartridge if you don't suffer from magnumitis!

They hold around 16 rounds if I remember correctly. The 44-40 is a very fun round to shoot. Barely any recoil, but can still drop a deer.
