1022 Mag well adapter

any news on these TUFF mags that need the receiver to be milled ?

I picked one up at Wolverine and finally got around to the receiver mod. A file, dremel, tube micrometer, and caliper along with patience worked for the modification. Mag fits in snug. The hard part is charging the magazine so the rounds will feed. Charge it one at a time and no problem: action cycles just fine. Use the removable cartridge feeders and... well.. I THINK it matters how the rims align in the mag. If the rim of the top cartridge is behind the rim of the second one, the bolt tips the first round down and the bullet nose jams in the mag. If they’ve been fed in one at a time from the top, the rims are all stacked with the higher ones forward of the lower ones and the mag feeds them all nicely. Now... can I modify my Butler Creek mag charger to work with the new magazine .... hmmm..

Well there is finally an aluminum mag adapter for the 1022 !
Apparently Addley Precision has them ;)

Don’t you need one per mag? It attaches to the mag not the rifle. And modifying a mag to fit a rifle means the mag is subject to the limits of that rifle. In this case the 10/22 is restricted to 10 rounds due to the Charger 10/22 (RCMP opinion but we know that they’ll still drag you through court and probably win). I use 10 round 10/22 mags either way, just want to make sure everyone was aware of possible issues using the Addley adapters.

I also tried to look these up just now and the product was taken off their site.

That's the opinion of the other manufacturer .

PSA: Knockoff Ruger 10/22 Magazine Adapters

It has been brought to our attention that another company has started manufacturing a Ruger 10/22 magazine adapter.

We would like to take this opportunity to warn our customers that this counterfeit adapter is not approved by the RCMP and is an illegal modification. This adapter is also infringing upon our pending patent that covers using Remington 597 and other magazines with an adapter in the Ruger 10/22 type of firearm.

The adapter in question is made by Addley Precision. We urge our customers not to buy or use these adapters. Unlike the Spectre Ballistics International adapter the Addley Precision adapter permanently affixes to the Remington 597 magazine with screws thus converting it into a PROHIBITED Ruger 10/22 magazine. Our adapter, which was specifically approved by the RCMP, fits in the rifle and allows the rifle to accept Remington 597 magazines.

We will continue to update this page if other companies infringe upon our intellectual property and sell dangerous knockoff products.

Only the genuine Spectre Ballistics International Ruger 10/22 Magazine Adapter was approved by the RCMP.

For those customers who want an aluminium adapter, they being manufactured right now are coming in the next few weeks.

Please do not post links to the knockoff adapter. Links will be removed.

Like I said that's the other manufacturers opinion

It's unfortunate that the 2 companies that have come up with seemingly well thought out solutions to the 10//22 magazine capacity issue, both seem to have chosen magazines with a poor track record for reliability. I was not aware of the poor reliability of the Remington 20-30 round mags before now, however I can tell you first hand that the H3CR mags that Dlask have chosen to use are one of the worst 10/22 mags I have ever used. I sincerely hope that the HC3R mags have had some upgrades since I tried them a few years ago.

I bought two of these Tuf22 mags and had my receiver milled. They work pretty decent, as good as the buttler creek 25 round mags did.

You don't seem to comprehend that those adapters made supposedly by Addley Precision disappeared from their website. They are NOT for sale anymore. That has some meaning, doesn't it?

I'm not talking about if they are for currently for sale on a web site .
I'm talking about the statement that they are prohibited .
It was you that cut & pasted the big bold
