.22 Sport Mystery

Hello All,

I'm hoping someone out there can help me track down some further information on a rifle that was destroyed in 2006.
This rifle belonged to my Grandfather who has since passed. This rifle was destroyed over an expired PAL as I was underage at the time.

I have as much info as I can get on the Weapon, I'm hoping to Identify the Year, Make and model.

According to the documents I have found from the Canada Firearms Centre it was listed as a Make: SPORT 22 Long Rifle with no serial number, and Bolt Action, Barrel length less than 470mm.
I suspect Pre 1940's as he used this gun on the Alberta farm before WWII.

The Sport & .22 I was able to dig up a few Winchester's that is a partial match of this description. I'm working on digging up a picture to help further.

Thanks for the tip, after further research it could be a
- Cooey Canuck Model 39 with a short barrel (under 18.5")
- Cooey Canuck Jr. (had a 16" barrel).

I can't find anything on the Sport markings but thinking the rifle is aged around ~1926

Cooey made a Bisley Sport .22 around 1929. It had "Bisley Sport Model.22 Long Rifle stamped on it.

Could it have been that one?

The Cooey "Sport" model was a small boys rifle like the Canuck made 1926 to mid 1930's .
That is a single shot in .22 LR . It had no butt plate & had a walnut stock , similar to Ace & Rabbit models.
It is not connected to the Bisley Sport Model.

I have one of those as well, was told they were built before the 40's.
Great little rifle.
