Hey all!

I did do some searching and reading but am still a little unclear -- total VZ noob.

So if one has an 11.8" VZ in 5.56 with a standard folding stock but would like to change it out to remain as a folder but to accept mil-spec AR stocks (of which I have a a few already), what exactly is needed? The kits that I've seen on Zahal ( https://zahal.org/product/fab-defense-m4-folding-sa-vz58-rifle-stock/ ) are super chunky looking and I don't need an actual stock so I don't really want to shell out 160 plus tax and shipping just for the mounting hardware.

Is there a low profile alternative that comes without a stock? I want to retain the folding option and also have it come straight out for shooting with an optic as opposed to the slanted downwards style. If there is one, any retailers in Canada stock then?

Next question is about the CSA magwell adapter for AR mags. So if you're using the magwell adapter, it comes with an AR-style mag release already. Is there a tactical bolt release that you can buy and use with the magwell adapter? The ones I'm seeing are generally for the standard 7.62 mags and for the OEM CZ mags for 5.56.

Final question (for now):

Would like to know what the best option for mounting an optic rail above the receiver (basically, the back of the rifle) that would allow the use of open sights for backup, and also allow cleaning without unmounting the rail and optic. Is that even possible?

Thanks so much!

Thanks for that! That looks like a great option for me. I'm assuming I'll need to use an AR buffer tube and this doesn't allow to me to fold? Still might be a good option to have!

Josh at Stormwerks is awesome and he ships to Caanda too.
Check out his site.
There are canted and straight stock adaptor options.
There are folding mechanisms.
Then there are options for AR, M4 and other buttstock adaptors.

As for mag adaptors. try out the original mags for a bit before you do the adaptor.
The AR mag is actually the weakest part of the AR design.
The CSA orginal mags are pretty good.
If you do convert, pm me for the old CSA mags.

The orignal bolt release on the CZ/CSA are a push forward paddle affair.

No idea what the AR adaptor release is like.
Wonder if any of the AR side push releases would fit?

Shameless plug.. I have a really sweet ace galil style stock up on the exchange with a folding stock adapter, straight mount and angle mount for optics all up for good price ;)

Good folding stock buffer tube adapter. I have the stel version and it's really heavy, but locks very solid. The aluminum one I linked is lighter.

There is no way to fit a bolt release button or lever when using the AR mag adapter. They come with replacement bolt hold opens, but to release the bolt you have to pull back on it and let go.

Yes it's. See the link: https://dlaskarms.com/product/cz-858-butt-stock-adapter/
To keep the option of folding stock, you will need a folding adapter - Amazon.ca. With the folding adapter you will run in another problem. Sliding the rail for optic on your side rail adapter. Or your will go with fixed side and optic rail adapter.
