Has anyone had success reloading Hirtenberger 7.62 boxer primed brass? I have had a very difficult time de-priming the once fired brass because the depriming pin keeps getting stuck in the flashhole. It seems that the flash hole on this brass is narrower than normal and the depriming pin gets stuck in the flash hole everytime.

Perhaps there is a narrower depriming pin that can be purchased for this?

I would expect that there are different size pins available.

If it were me, I would put the decapping pin in my drill press and about 30 seconds of holding file lightly against it should make it narrow enough not to catch

I have reloaded at least a thousand of those and no issues decapping with a Lee universal decapping die. My brass is all headstamped 83.

Ok I'll look into if there are different sizes of decapping pins available. The one I have been trying to use is an RCBS and it measures 0.071".

Do you know the thickness of the Lee decapping pins?

Btw, the brass I'm working on is also '83 Hirtenberger

The lee decapping die is super cheap, and the pin is really tough. Believe the lee decapper was $12-15.....a number of years ago.

I like to deprime, then lightly tumble before sizing. No crud on brass to ruin the resizing dies.

Wondering if the Hirtenburger might also have crimped primer pockets. Might need to have the primer pockets swaged or reamed. Happy i have a Frankford arsenal prep centre.

That is what I did with a Lee universal decapping die the my Lapua 308 Palma and 6.5 Creedmore SRP brass. and as a bonus the smaller shank (compared to my Lyman decapper) will work with 204R too.
If I recall these particular Lapua flash holes are about 0.059".

I found out that you can order undersized decapping pins that are 0.057", which is definitely what is needed for the Hirtenberger brass. The standard decapping pins made by several difference manufactures range from 0.071 - 0.075, which normally work fine, except if you encounter brass with a very narrow flash hole.

Are you sure its boxer primed and not berdan brass? Both versions are available.
Not meaning to be offensive, often the first of any troubleshooting instructions are to check if the dwvice is plugged in.
