Appreciated that and couldn’t agree more, .270’s my most frequent recommendation to clients. And I’ve seen the same outsized effect from it.
It is, for whatever reason, a very accurate cartridge, and its moderate recoil makes it easy for most people to shoot it well. Consequently, more hits in more vital areas produce more lethal results. Your observation, "outsized effect", is well stated.

I live and hunt Ontario, never owned a 270 until a few years ago. It's the only rifle I hunt with now. So far everything its touched has dropped in its tracks stone dead.
