Best All Round Rifle Caliber?

Everybody has favorites for one reason or another, and while not even my 1st choice, its hard to argue agaisnt the .30-06 as the most versatile cartridge especially when loaded with 168gr TTSX... :)

I'll put one in for the good ole 338 federal simply because it has a good choice of bullets you can use for all game you can use 308 or 7mm-08 brass and has better ballistics then the 30-06 and 308.

I doubt the 338 Federal will have better ballistics than my 30-06. Im loading a 200gr nosler accubond @2680 fps and 190gr Nosler Accubond Long range at 2750 fps. Both those bullets will have better bullet coefficient and have an advantage for velocity.

To me the best all around rifle caliber for primarily moose, would be a toss up between .30 and 7mm with the 270 in there as well.
As far as cartridges in those calibers suit yourself.

If I was currently looking for a rifle for moose hunting it would be the 30-06.
