i just ordered the "12" L.O.P. OverMolded Shotgun Stock Kit w/forend for Rem. 870" (#08732), but i figure i should have waited until i've seen one... oh well, i guess if it doesn't feel right i can order the standard one.

i'm 6'1, 180 lbs, and have broad shoulders. i was holding my 870p last nite (which has the hogue forend and the factory stock), and it felt ok, but i decided that it doesn't really matter if the new one is 1"(?) shorter.

is the forend the same as the standard kit? the one thing i don't like about the hogue forend, is that it's about 1/4" longer than the factory 870p forend. this doesn't make a big difference, so it's not a big deal. at least it's not like the forend on my friends MM

does anybody have direct comparison pics showing the before/ after of the different stocks?

I've had a 12" LOP set on a norc HP9-1. The stock is really great, but you'll find you'll have to reposition your trigger hand thumb, as to not thumb knuckle yourself in the face. Other than that, they are the cat's ass; feel great, look good.

Here's a pic of the after:

thx for the pic. where's the first one??
i was thinking about the aiming and thumb thing... i have another 12 ga pump for aiming, should i need to. the LOP stock is for my 870p, which i haven't even fired yet, and don't intend to do anything w/ except blast things... so my thumb probably won't be hitting my face anytime soon ;)

I have one.

It is cool but I almost broke my nose the first time I shot it...

You can reposition your thumb quite easily though.

What I actually ended up doing is putting a slip on recoil pad on it which is covered by a velco shell carrier. Adds some length and makes it *very* easy to shoot 3" slugs all day long.

I have the Reduced LOP furniture on my 12.5" 870 and had it on one of my 14"s. I dont really any problem but I do recall having to be more cognizant of where my thumb was relative to my face...

guess i have to update my post... still didn't happen to me but my dad tried my 870 this week end and guess what happen to him. he's been shooting with full lenght stock all his life, i didn't think of warning him as it never hapenned to me, but he got the thumb to nose thing on the first round.
sorry dad.

Yes I barked my nose the first time I pulled the trigger with the short stock. My fix was to put a stock pack on and that forced me to reposition my hand and solved the problem!

On order

Well.....With the Loonie being higher than the US Dollar, I went and ordered a 12" LOP Stock direct from HOGUE. I currently have a Knoxx CompStock on my unfired 870. I Will try that first and see if I like it if not, then the old switcherooooo to the HOGUE. If that does not suit me I will have to put out the word for a Brobee or Mesa Tactical adapter to go along with my uber rare CTR Stock. Now for sights...Ghost Rings or red dot ? .....decisions,decisions :p
