Favourite Repeaters

Have been giving the waterfowl a break for the last couple of years but still have some auto loaders around. Maxus is my go to but it is almost flip a coin between it and an A400 Extreme, love the camo of the A400 in the field but it is really hard to grab it out of the safe for some reason. Have an A500G that never misses a beat, doesn't fit just right but was my late fathers and an 1187 with parts of course. My favorite must be the SKB XL900 as I have three of those for some reason. The whole lot of them haven't seen more than a box of shells over the last couple of years. I really need to sell some stuff.

My brother bought a Mossberg pump when we were kids at CT for $100. It was fiercely abused, shot two feet high and needed to be re brazed once or twice a season so the action bars were still attached to the fore-end. I decided back then that I would never own a pump action and never have.

I definitely do not have the experience with shotguns that others have...

As a kid, grew up with the Cooey 84 in 410 on the family farm. (Have another one now, as well as one in 28 ga. Wife has her father's old 12 ga, but is not set on keeping it as it "Kicks like a mule!")

Have only gone to a couple of sporting clays shoots over the years, and have found that I do better with the pumps and semis than I do with the o/u's...probably due to less cast off in the stocks, as I am a lefty.

So I have to say that I do like both the pumps and the semis!

But have owned and used pumps for bear protection for work for years and so am fairly familiar with the Rem 870 and have one in the Tactical version with ghost ring sight for that, and it is very reliable.
Have also owned a Benelli M2 Tactical, and it worked very well, but most companies won't let you carry a semi for that type of work out here, so sold it for the 870 above. Found it to be accurate and reliable, and would not hesitate to buy another if I could use it for that purpose...but don't need 2 right now.

Have a Rem 1100 Sporting 28 and it is a great little shotgun! Have had no issues with it over the years since buying it and it has a beautiful piece of wood on it. The wife is determined to make it hers! LOL
So I will be picking up a Benelli Ethos in 28 ga this spring so that she can have the Remington for her own.
Have also decided that I want an Ithaca 37 in 28 ga with the straight grip stock and 26" barrel with AA wood too!

I like the Mossberg Bolt Action shotguns. I grew up shooting them for grouse and migratory birds. I find them light, accurate, fast repeating and they fit my stocky physique quite well. Never been much of a semi fan and I find most pumps don't fit me very well.

For some reason a lot of hunters don't care for bolt action shotguns.

Myself I never seen the point of bolt action shotguns outside of some long barrel Marlin 10 gauge goose gun or a truck or farm gun for destructive varmints.

The repeat shot is just too darn slow versus any other repeating shotgun. And a shotgun that takes pesky two shot mags? No thx.

Too each his own.
