Am I the only one who didn’t know the Troy 102 is manufactured by NEA??
It’s licensed to Troy so they could get a product to market quicker
Mine didn't, so I sold it.
That's the stupidest reason I've ever heard for selling a gun.
That's the stupidest reason I've ever heard for selling a gun.
I just bought a Troy 102 .308 on CGN. I thought I remembered reading that each Troy rifle sold in Canada has a letter enclosed from the CFC saying that the rifle is non restricted. If true would anyone be able to send me a copy of the letter?
Thx
I think that was a joke....
Correct so its technically Troy manufacturing the BCL design
Actually couldn't be further from the truth.
People need to stop repeating this ... can't find the response from SFRC in that giant troy thread but the info is there.
If you find it post it. I stand corrected.
Coles notes?
This is a Troy project, made by Troy, designed by Troy, TROY TROY TROY The AR102 is the gun that BCL/NEA based their gun from and it would appear that Troy did a similar thing, thus the 102 in it's name.

No.... Troy never ever ever owned or was partially owned by NEA or BCL for that matter.
Just because they used the AR102 as a basis for a firearm does not link the 2 or 3 companies in any way.

We'll be posting the FRT sheet for the Troy 102 shortly. The FRT changed slightly from what we were originally told...don't worry it is still 100% made by Troy Defense in the US and non restricted. What you will see on the FRT is that it says Make: Troy Defense, Model Troy 102 BUT the manufacturer now shows North Eastern Arms. NEA is not making this rifle, it is a Troy made rifle. It shows NEA as the manufacturer as it turns out they sold Troy the data package. I know some people dislike NEA but don't be concerned, this is not an NEA firearm in any way except they provided Troy with the file to make the receiver set.

Guys,
I'll chime in here as I worked with SFRC and Troy on this;
The only part of a firearm the RCMP care about is the receiver. For the AR10, it is the lower.
To get this project to market and avoid the 12+ month wait for a unique FRT, the IP for a 102 approved lower was licensed from NEA to Troy in the USA.
Because NEA is the original manufacturer on record with the RCMP, it will also be the manufacturer. Which is separate from where it is manufactured.
The Troy 102 is not a branded NEA. It is a newly made, Troy manufactured rifle that simply uses the NEA approved TDP which has been approved by the RCMP. The changes troy made to the receiver were submitted to the RCMP and deemed to be within acceptable tolerances to the original and therefore, we could move things forward.
If anyone wants further info, please feel free to PM me, but neither SFRC or TSE are misleading anyone here.

It is a Troy, made by Troy in the US. NEA owns the design for the NEA102 style lower so FRT's will always show that. It's not an NEA made gun...NEA doesn't make anything anymore...they just license out their lower style to people.
Ryan
Rick,
Once BCL and NEA split, NEA became more of a consulting company, nothing more.
As far as I understand, NEA is not planning to ever get back into manufacturing. But IP has value in itself.
JR
'll get that updated later today. It is 100% Troy produced rifle with no NEA parts etc. They are just using the design package to manufacture the lower but to Troy standards.
Ryan
I had posted before and told many people I was not aware they licensed the product to Troy. It’s still 100% Troy made product, just the receiver is made to the design of the NEA102.
We’ve addressed this many times so far...it should pop up in many places on here.
NEA licensed the receiver sets to Troy. The gun and all parts are 100% made by Troy and their suppliers. NEA does not make any part of this firearm.
