What are the best AR-15 options available these days around the $1000 mark? So far the Sig M400 Tread is looking pretty good. Are there better ones?

I don't think the $1000 options are much superior to the $600-800 options right now. I would get a S&W or PSA for around $700 and have some left over cash for a decent optic if I had around $1000 to spend.

This ! And I'll include Norinco/Dominion Arms to the list without putting my flame suit on :p Take a look at the EE as well, good deals to be had and you save taxes for new/almost new/babied ARs that are screaming for some love.

With the left over cash you can buy:

-ammo
-magazines
-optics
-accessories

My favourite is the s&w sport 2. Plan on spending some money to replace the funerture and you’ll end up with a good reliable rifle staying within your price range.

Looking to buy new and not made in China, this is for shooting in the US primarily. Anyway, despite the price difference, the Sig M400 Tread and Radical Firearms RF-15 have both caught my eye. I'm left-handed, so the Sig is already better out of the box...but $400+ better? They both get mixed reviews.

Why is the SIG better for a lefty compared to other ARs?
I’ve not seen one up here but I’m guessing they cost closer to $1300 here. Since you’re a lefty, why not look at the Stag Arms offering specifically for left handers? Should be fairly close in price and also good to go for US use.

I’ll put my vote in for the Ruger AR-556
Mine has been extremely reliable and accurate. Out of the box it has a few upgraded parts over a basic dpms or s&w.
It’s the right price point around $700 so you are still under the 1k mark with a red dot.

I appreciate your thoughts everyone. I went with the Radical Firearms RF-15 from SFRC.

Anyone know how long transfers are taking in Ontario these days?

And, a little off topic, but what would be a reasonable asking price for a Bushmaster XM15-E2S lower paired with a keyhole-marked 14.5" flat top upper, with A2 sight tower, M4 fatty handguards and detachable carry handle?
