Notice to BC wilderness ATC holders

I am willing to throw some monies at someone's laywer who is willing to fight this. I will through in the first $250.

It is either that or I will offer Campcook $250 for his Glock 29

I'll kick in another $250 but I will "NEVER" I'll repeat that "NEVER" part with the G29...

Now that I have it I see that I have stumbled onto the best all round semi-auto of all time.

It is going to be used for CCW when I am in the States with both it's 40S&W & 10mm barrels or be an extremely compact ATC defense gun if I can get it onto my ATC and a fun practice handgun for the range who knows now that I can't carry semi's in the bush maybe I'll get back into ipsc...:( :)

With the full length G20 mags with spacers you have a full G20 grip...

It can handle from light 40S&W rounds to my very top 10mm loads.

Oh yeah I almost forgot it is 100% reliable... :runaway:

Yeah baby this is one gun I will never part with, it will have to be pried from my cold dead hands before I sell it off or give it up... :D

One last thing now that I finally have my renewed ATC I am heading off to work in 4 to 5 more days and will be out enjoying life again for at least a month maybe two I guess it just depends on how soon the snow comes... :p

Amen brother... I've always wanted a true do-it-all, reliable, pistol and the Glock 29 is that x10; it's the only pistol I've ever owned that I have zero qualms with. I have 2 barrels and funny enough I find that I am shooting 10mm almost exclusively (since getting back into reloading). I guess I should say now that the 10mm is my favourite pistol caliber now too ;)
 
A LEO took down a bear here last year with a 9mm so I don't understand how they would classify 10mm a "inadequate":confused:

Also I guess their all going to go back to wheel guns for the reliabilty issue.:rolleyes:
 
I talked to Mike Dejong's office Thursday...

They told me that the Surrey CFC is a Federally controlled office and recommended that we contact our MP's about this.

So I suggest that everyone involved in this contacts their MP as soon as possible if you haven't already done so...

This is just a rumor but I also heard yesterday that the acting Chief Firearms Officer that is doing these changes is being replaced very soon with an even harder core Lieberal..
 
I think that this is really important to find out. The CFO should be following the guideline from the goverment, not proceeding along with his own prejudices.
 
Wow, been in the field working for a while. This thread really took off. Let me just reiterate that the BC CFO is now no longer issuing or renewing wilderness ATC for ANY semi-automatic firearms, nor allowing any to be added to current ATCs, regardless of calibre. They are not revoking anyones current ATC that has automatics on it.

Let me know if anyone finds anything else out. Thanks for your efforts Camp Cook.

Cam, the semi-auto thing is fairly simple, but I'm curious what argument you plan to make for having multiple restricted/prohibited guns on a wilderness ATC? (other than that the restriction has no reasonable purpose relating to public safety)

What if one or more of his guns are broken and need repair? What if one becomes in-opperable while in the wilderness?

Just a couple reasons off the cuff.....

The reasons I gave to the firearms officer in my phone interview were...

1) having to take one or more to a gunsmith for repairs or modifications eg; had my SRH shortened to 4.25"

2) if I am in my jet boat and get flipped out or I'm working in/near a river and get washed down stream and the current ripped the handgun out of the holster and I lost it. I have always taken at least 2 handguns for these reasons

3) as mentioned above if one breaks down when in the bush

4) different jobs or areas that I work in require different types of handguns eg; if I am in an area were there are no grizzlies I do not need a large heavy 454 Casull a 45 Colt or 10mm will do or if I am jumping in and out of my truck checking out areas close to the roads I need a semi-auto for fast loading and unloading etc.

5) when the most dangerous animal that I may encounter is a mountain lion (I work northern Vancouver Island a lot) I need a handgun that I can draw and shoot quickly and has enough rounds for the fast moving animals and if I need to reload (and don't tell me I won't have time I would rather be prepared) a mag change in a semi-auto is faster than any other method.

Previously I haven't had to give a reason they just put them on when I applied for an addition.

I have a question...

How many handguns were the norm because I had 6 on my last permit.
 
I have 1. So it certainly wasn't because I had too many. Wouldn't have wanted anymore than 2, but now it looks like I'm stuck with 1 unless this can be resolved in some way.

one is probably the norm. I never really bothered with more than a M29 on mine until recently. In the days where mining companies had filing cabinets full of Blackhawks and M29's you would just draw one in the spring and apply using that S/N
 
I feel that at least two would be a smart option, if one should need repairs mid season (and it can/does happen) you would be left in the lurch if you only had one on the list. Given the time it takes for most gunsmith repairs, unless you have a gunsmith close by you may be waiting a long time....let's not even start talking about dealing with a warranty repair :runaway:
