Does anyone have any info on this new for 2020 offering? I bought the "lands and grooves" magazine and noticed this rig. Have been thinking about getting a carbon barrel on my fn model 70 but this offering changes everything.

Looks like they make a rail for it as well

Kimber has announced the addition of four new Pro Carbon Rifles to its Open Range Line. Designed with hunters in mind, these rifles boast ultralight AG Composites carbon-fiber stocks, wear all-weather KimPro finishes, and are available in either soft-touch GORE Optifade Open Country or textured granite. These stocks support 24" PROOF Research, carbon-fiber barrels in either 6.5 mm Creedmoor, or .308 Win., which, together with the stocks, weigh less than 6.5 lbs. with muzzle brakes.

All Kimber rifles are patterned after the storied, Mauser-style, controlled-feed actions, with three-position wing safeties and locking bolts. Barrels and chambers are machined to match-grade dimensions, which pair with factory-set, match-grade triggers to produce sub-m.o.a. performance. For more information on Open Range Pro Carbon rifles, please visit kimberamerica.com. MSRP: $3,099

Think I'll stick to my Ascent and Montana...what would an Ascent with a titanium action weigh?

If you're a hunter whose pursuit of game takes you to the most extreme terrain, you know the value of a real mountain rifle...and you'll definitely also want to know about Kimber's latest addition to their Open Range line of bolt-action rifles: the Pro Carbons. There are four in all, so there's one sure to satisfy the most discerning mountain hunter.

These ultralight, bolt-action beauties are, like all Kimber rifles, patterned after the storied, Mauser-style, controlled feed actions with three position wing safeties and locking bolts. Also like all Kimber rifles, they're crafted and machined to match-grade dimensions with exacting quality control and Sub-MOA performance. Naturally, as you would expect for a top-end manufacturer like Kimber, the new Pro Carbon rifles have high level performance features like all-weather KimPro finish and extremely strong, light and well-balanced AG Composites carbon#### fiber stocks. Said stocks are available in either soft touch GORE Optifade Open Country (pictured above) or textured granite patterns.

“We are very excited to add these rifles to the Kimber lineup for 2020,” commented Chris Faust, Product Manager for Kimber. “We were looking for cutting-edge performance to enhance our popular line of lightweight, accurate mountain rifles."

Part of that search led Kimber to partner with Proof Research, a market leader in high-tech barrels. That means the Pro Carbon rifles sport some of the best barrels available, 24-inch PROOF Research carbon-fiber barrels. Chambered in your choice of the flat-shooting 6.5 Creedmoor or .308 Winchester, these tack-drivers can reach from mountaintop to mountaintop to harvest the sheep of your dreams. What's best of all, they weigh less than 6.5 pounds unloaded, with muzzle brakes.##..and your back will thank you for every single ounce you didn't make it carry.

The MSRP for the 6.5 Creedmoor/Open Country, 6.5 Creedmoor/Granite, .308 Win./Open Country and .308 Win./Granite all have the same MSRP: $3,099. For more information, please visit kimberamerica.com.

So only available in 6.5 creedmoor and .308 Winchester weighs about a pound more than any other sporter style kimber model in those cartridges and likely to cost between $700-1000 than any other kimber Mountain Rifle or double the price of the Hunter. Probably won't shoot any better than a tikka t3x either. Carbon fibre fans will rejoice, myself I'd rather see them bring back the compact sized action and add either a fast twist .22-250 or .22 Creedmoor option to their current line up.

These will be good for the trick gear range shooters (most sheep / goat hunting interested folks in reality) more so than the actual hunters. Those backpacking rifles for weeks in the mountains won’t fathom the purpose of adding over a pound to the Mountain Ascent, to perhaps shoot tighter 5 shot groups as the barrel heats. One or two shots, the pencil barrel works great, and one or two shots is all you ever need. I am happy to see options however, but I’d rather see the Ti receiver 84M too than this.

They copied us Weatherby Fan!This is the donation rifle for the Wild Sheep Society of BC Kamloops banquet .Looks suspicious ? It was a Kimber Montana 8400 not an 84M and still only 6 lbs 6oz scoped.Benchmark Hells canyon barrel is a bit heavier too.
