The New Colt Python Officially Unveiled

Not to mention the reports of terrible machining on the recessed crown!

Those marks are not from machining. They happened after during the polishing process. Colt acknowledged it and fixed the problem by changing the method of how the gun is held during the polishing process.

Kind of bothered by the machining marks on the crane and ejector housing with the example shown in the video...

I can't see what you mean. Can you give me a time in the video so I can find it ? Thanks

OK I see it.
No worse than an original just different. The marks on the new one are typical CNC machining marks.
Look at my 59...

I guess they never heard of a finish cut/pass.
Not impressed one bit.
My Ruger has a better finish for half the price.
Sorry Colt fans, myself included, they really messed this one up.

Yeah, I'm starting to re-think the deposit I put down. So far the negative is spooking me. Especially when I have 'real' Pythons, the hand fitted and polished variety. Going to keep an eye on it. For what they are asking, I expect flawless function. Ruger and S&W do it for a lot less with their revolvers. Not going to pay an extra grand because of a ribbed barrel with "Python" laser cut on it.

Not sure if it was mentioned in prior posts, but Hickok45 was very disappointed with the one he showed on his YouTube channel. It failed more than once for the cylinder to rotate when squeezing the trigger or pulling the hammer back! I would be disappointed too...:(

He put out a follow-up video. He said he cleaned and oiled it up and can't get it to fail like he did originally. Hummm.... one thing about Hickok's vids is that he seldom has a negative thing to say about the guns you see him shoot on his vids.

I can run my GP100 bone dry, I've done it several times.
Hickok45 may have cleaned out a lot of leftover gunk from the machining process, doubt it.
Something is seriously wrong with the new Colt's manufacturing.

I bought one of the new Dan Wesson revolvers last year for about the same money and inside the frame and crane the finish is stellar with 0 machine marks, same with the recessed crown on the barrel although this is not as pronounced a crown as on the colt due to the inherent design of the wesson's barrel. I'll keep my deposit on the colt as I have waited for colt to reintroduce these for a long time. Hopefully I get one as least comparable in quality to the dan wesson, I'd be more than happy with that.

I own several DA revolvers brands of older Colt, Dan Wesson and S&W. Not a single one has visible to the human eye machining marks inside the crane and frame.

Edit: Matter of fact, neither do I have any visible tooling marks on both my stainless ROAs.

Presumptuous and unqualified statement.

I'm not here to argue even if this response may come of as such but, these issues should not come up if everything were done right.
Not knocking design, I'm knocking the execution of manufacturing.
All they need are tweeks that should have been ironed out in pre-production.
And yes, design, production, manufacturing and implementation are what I do.
Not to say shyte don't happen, but this never should have left Colt if proper QC procedures would have been implemented.
Edited to add: they simply may have rushed production or are manufacturing too many.

I’m glad Others think this is unacceptable as well. Too many fans are willing to overlook these massive oversights for some reason... I wouldn’t accept those issues on any gun, much less a 2k plus revolver.
I think they were all hot and horny for their 2020 release and wanted them out the door.

I’m sure they will iron it out, but as you said, all of those should have been caught before leaving the factory.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Colt fan through and through.
I feel that they are simply producing more than their production team and QC can handle.
Could also be clapped out machines, I highly doubt that. Too much at stake.

I'll wait for the kinks to be sorted out.

I really hope they reintroduce the Anaconda, though I'd really love to see a new Trooper Mk III, Police Positive Special Fourth Issue, and New Service in .44 Mag and .45 Colt with an ejector shroud and ramp sight.
