Was wondering what others have done for iron sights on your 8.5 Grizzlies? I have a 2019 production and the bead is offset not in the middle of the barrel lol. Also will a 12.5 barrel for my 8.5 fit with no modifications?

If the bead sight isn’t centered I would call Canam and ask for one that was proper. Looking at the 2019 Grizzly’s on their website it looks like the 12.5” versions are built on 8.5” length mag tubes, if that’s the case then a new production 12.5” barrel might work. Although their single 12.5” barrels on the website are of the standard pattern, I would call them and complain and see what they can do for you.

Someone already answered that question. The answer is NO. The magazine tube is too short to fit any other barrels unless you have one custom made.

Have a look at the newest runs and let me know what you think, to me it looks like the 12.5” and the 8.5” barreled Grizzly’s are built with the 8.5” receiver. As we all know on the old 12.5” guns the standard length mag tubes are flush with the muzzle of the 12.5” barrel. The new 14” barrel grizzly is the old style with a full length mag tube, no different than a standard 870.

I am a big fan of the bead (get Canam to fix it).
It is a short, handy, shotgun. Adding rails and optical sights just add snag points & weight.
Same reason I don't add side saddles to my shorter barrel shotgun.
Do the mods to get 3 in the magazine to give you a 4-round shotgun instead of the factory 3 round.

I have a clip on that indexes off the frount bead . For the short distances that I shoot ( both eyes open ) I can hit clays pretty regular . The hardest part is learning the swing with a short barrel . Slugs I have to ajust my aims lower because of the shortened sight length . On my 12 inch I have the combat sights they are taller so I don't aim as low . Can am did have rails for them but not all models were drill and tapped.

i would agree with what you have said shooting short barrel shotguns. for those of you that have never shot one please do your self a favor and use sound protection. it is a must.

If you really want a longer barrel for your 8.5 it won’t be 12.5 but Dlask made a special run of 870 barrels 14” no mods needed that will fit onto 8.5 spec shortys I’m positive Dlask’s 8.5 ain’t far off from a grizzly 8.5 so should work I’d contact em see if they got any left it’s a call in specific if your looking for one.

I’d be almost inclined to think they are the same until you read the description on mag capacity and the 8.5 is listed as 2+1 and 12.5 is listed as 3+1 if they were the same I don’t understand how they can’t have the same capacity I feel it’s gotta be slightly longer or maybe the 8.5 has a plug in it to restrict it by 1 round

I know it’s odd but the pics make me wonder, I’ve asked Canam about it in their dealer thread on the new run of Grizzly’s and got no reply. It’s clearly a shorter mag tube on the 12.5” in the pic, just like the 8.5”.

The old 12.5” has the same mag capacity as a rem 870, 4+1. If they say it’s 3+1 in the new ones then it’s not a shorter mag tube and the barrel lug is set further back.
