45-70 Wildcat with .375 Cal bullet.

I'm helping a Google challenged friend research some odd cartridges and we cannot find any info on the following: all four are WCC 45-70 MK1 -1943- head stamped cases but the bottom two have been reworked for .375 slugs. Any idea what they are called? Thanks for any input you can provide.

It's called a 38-56, that's the standard shoulder they used

Thanks for the info. The cartridge on the bottom is a D.C. Co 38-56 head stamped case so maybe the 45-70 wildcats are the "Improved" version. Interesting stuff, Thanks again.

I used to own a Winchester 1886 in .38-56 and my loaded cartridges had the same style shoulder as the one in the bottom of the last post. Certainly nothing like the abrupt shoulder on the one in the pic above it.
