Inexpensive Borescope for .22 rimfire

Very neat piece of kit. Too bad it isn't Apple compatible at this time, otherwise I'd be interested in it.

Has anyone had any experience with any of the other options available on Amazon? I'm more interested in the units that have a monitor with them, more of an all in one solution - although it looks like most of those are 5.5mm or larger cameras.

They have a wifi version on their site that works with apple i believe.

The Lyman Digital Borescope has a monitor and a rigid rod. It goes for under $400.

The Teslong as it's currently available from Amazon will work with anything into which a USB can be plugged -- like a PC laptop or a Mac or a desktop.

There are all kinds of inexpensive endoscopes available, but they only show what's directly in front of the probe/camera. To be useful in examining a bore a scope needs to have a 45 degree mirror to allow for viewing the sides of the bore.

The Teslong states in the description that the current version is not Apple/iOS compatible, for the time being.

A number of the other options have 45° mirror attachments available, unfortunately they increase the overall diameter of the camera head - which on a ~5.5mm camera is getting a bit big for bore examination.

Mine arrived today. Works great. May have to play around with the mirror to get a sharper pic. But all in all, very happy. And shows where cleaning wasn't as good as thought. Tried it in my 6mm and worked ok for me.

I just had to either screw the mirror on more of less to adjust the focus.
Oh an FYI... DON'T TOUCH THE MIRROR!!!!

Talking to another member that only has an Ipad...(Doesn't have a USB port)

So why wouldn't this work??? Would you need an App or would it just work?

I can see two other uses. My daughter has one of those direct injection engines which get a gunky buildup in the ports and on the valves. I can use this to assess how bad it is.

And I can cancel my colonoscopy.

DIY colonoscopy would be a $#!!ty idea

For larger rifles, would this unit have a problem with focus in larger bores if the focal distance changes ?
Nothing a couple wraps of electrical tape could fix, to bush to the correct diameter?

YES it would. It has a very short focal length. That's why some are having troubles with getting a clear picture.
It also magnifies lots...so a small piece of lint looks like a piece of cotton string. Very deceiving.

Here's a little experiment I did while having my first coffee.
Hope this helps....

The 40mm-5mm pic is from the camera this thread is about.
The 70mm-20mm pic is a cheaper larger camera 7mm Borescope Inspection Camera

On this camera you can see focus is best @ 10mm. If you look at the 5mm pic the "C" is out of focus, but the refection of the camera is good...which put you back at 10mm. Same as using the 45° mirror.
