Short range thumper suggestions.

Actually the 225gr FTX are designed for 45 Colt velocities they wouldn't be my choice to use either in my 450BM they are for fun shooting or for thick bush coyotes I'm not saying they wouldn't kill a deer but their not my first choice.

For deer I would use the 250gr FTX that are designed for the 450 BM longer tip allows for excellent reliable feeding/chambering.

If I was to use the XTP-Mags I load them as long as I can for reliable feeding in the mag.

Well. I have everything but the rings now. Looks like it will be about 1/2lb heavier than the Kimber with the Vx6 3-18. But around 10” shorter which makes it feel lighter than it is. Looks like a kids gun. So it’s a Ruger Hawkeye compact stainless laminate in 308. Bought the Vx6 1-6 for it and loaded up some 220gr RN interlocks using from 42-46 grains of W760 and H4350. We’ll see what happens. I can report back.

Looks Good a BIT Heavy ! Let us know how your 220 gr loads work out and i will with mine too out of my Ruger Scout rifle - RJ

So I’m getting just over 2200fps with 46.5gr of h4350. Very acceptable to me. Grouped well as well. Will report back with more info and pics after next range trip. Picked up a Kimber Adirondack as well by accident. Not sure which one to keep. See how they feel side by side.

This should fit the "Short Range Thumper" category...

I'm looking at buying the 12.5" barreled Rem 700 CP with a Magpul buttstock in 308 Win.

Gravel Agency is bringing these in this spring/summer IRUNGUNS is also looking into importing them.

I'm imagining being able to load from 110gr V-Max to 210gr Accubond long range from reading up on 13" barreled 308's the best powder is IMR4895 150gr bullets will do 2450fps.

It is a heavy little combo though...

I saw those and had to look into them as well! Not sure about it’s practicality but sometimes that doesn’t matter and still kinda want one!

I was looking at those and they look pretty cool. I'm just trying to think WTF I would do with one? Actually in .223 it might be cool.

I'd like to have a nice little FN98 with 20" bbl in 9.3x57 but I doubt there would be any blacksmiths in this here Canada with that reamer.

I have one .Used it to rebarrel a m/s 9.5x56 ms takedown.I just sold it to a gent back east with the dies ,always wanted to build a classic mauser with it but after 15 years of collecting dust I sold it all.The 9.3x62 does everything I need .

I have a browning micro medallion, 20" barrel chambered in 284win. It's topped with a 2-7 leupold scope, it's good from 30 - 300 yards. I don't think you could find a more capable rifle for hunting the coastal forest here on VI.
