Just wanted to post a quick note about some Federal Premium Nosler Partition's I was using today.

I've recently divorced my reloading hobby so this the first factory ammo I've shot in years.

.270Win, 130 grain.

While sighting in the new rifle, I had the chronograph out to get a muzzle velocity reading to set my Point Blank Range.

These were the recorded velocities:

2975
2931
2946
2921
2933
2963
2972
2936

Was happy with the consistency of this ammo.

standard deviation is 20 fps. Could be worse I guess

I shot a deer last fall with a factory loaded Federal Nosler Partition. Dead as they get

Yes, they are pricey but a box of 50 Partitions and a pound of temperature insensitive powder isn't cheap either. Just hope Federal keeps running rebates and can sell the brass to get it down around $2 a round.

Partition are ballpark $1/, primer, 5c, brass at $1 each...say 5 reloads...20c. The 270 example about 30c for powder. Thats about $1.55/round or $30.50/box of 20. Tell me where one can buy Fed premium for $55/box?

A velocity of 54ft/sec seems decidedly non premium. I always think of rifle reloading as 30-40% of factory. However, it's also better than "premium ".
