Is there a non-bubba way to do this? Are there any guides out there that Google won't dredge up?

I'm not opposed to bedding the rifle, as it has been assembled from parts and I bought it as a shooter. However, the barrel, receiever, and bolt all match, and the barrel is in exceptional condition but the groups just aren't measuring up. My No4 Mk1 will shoot circles around this thing, so I imagine the replacement stock must have something to do with my rifles lack luster performance.

What can I do?

For starters if you are already not doing this, reload your own ammo as close to the original specs as possible. :)

I plan to, when I eventually get a reloading kit. But factory ammo will have to do for a while, as tuition is due and funds are tight.

Regardless, my Lee Enfield will shoot better with the same factory ammo over the P-14, so something has to give. Good ammo will only go so far.

.... I've never tried to "accurise" the P14, it's supposed to be the most accurate of the early Lee Enfields. So, the suggestions are just those based on speculation. Trigger cleaned up ? Check the bedding ! From memory, if it's a replacement stock, it could be one from a P17 which is a little different than that of the P14. ( More space around the tang, and maybe a different barrel channel contour ? ) ..... as an interim measure, it might be worthwhile to use a little gasket material in the barrel channel, perhaps beneath where the barrel band is, to create a little upward pressure on the barrel. And finally, make sure the sights are secure !! I speak from embarrassing personal experience! When sights and mounting / securing bolts back-off decent groups are an impossibility ! .... Good Luck ! ..... David K. .....:)
