Gents the indoor ranges are becoming more difficult as the combination of poor lighting along with my deteriorating eyesight has made it a chore just focusing on the front sight. I don’t like the idea of shooting with one eye closed to focus so how do you manage? Are intermediate prescription glasses in the cards?

Optic. Red dot is a good choice.. some guy named Jerry Miculek seems to use them he's an OK shooter.

And not just to smart ass, but 2 cents red dot/optic works for me.

the FIRST thing is to see an EYE DOCTOR and tell him the problem I had my cataracts removed and the difference is night and day- the consider a red dot or a lazer - makes it pretty simple if all you have to do is put the red/green dot on the target I have a red dot/laser on most of my pistols (cheap like borscht on flea bay)it's the red dot /green dot combo/lazer- it was about 20 bucks at the time- b/c the lasr/sight is focussed at infinity, there is no parallax

if you wear multi focal lenses you could have a pair made up for just shooting, i am an optician and what i normally do is make the lens in your dominant eye focus on the front sight, the non dominant eye is focused for the distance, works pretty will with most of the people i fit it with

Yes I have multi focus lenses along with cataract surgery in my early years in my dominant eye. The right eye sees clear colours but blurred at arms length while the weak eye has a yellow tint. That is why shooting in artificial light is messed up. Damn trying to hit a softball in an indoor batting cage is near impossible.

If you are seeing the yellow in the eye that you have not had the cataract surgery in you may be needing to have a cataract removed in that eye, i would set up an appointment with your optometrist and get the process started for that eye.

Red Dot, but in green.

Apparently the Green is easier to see than the Red.

I can't tell the difference, but then again do not have the best eyes either.

I pretty much use optics to hit anything beyond 25 yds.

I agree with many others that commented on red dots. A bunch of us are in our 40's and the lighting in the indoor range is shiat. Red dot or green dot helps a crap load when your eyes are starting to crap out. I have them on everything without a scope.

You can't mill your slide you have fined an opitic that will fit into the area your rear sight is

18. Aftermarket parts, components and accessories are prohibited, except as follows:

18.2 Aftermarket open and optical/electronic sights (see Rules 5.1.3.1 and 5.1.3.2) and mounting plates are
permitted, provided their installation and/or adjustment requires no alteration to the handgun other than
the milling of the slide in order to facilitate the installation of an optical/electronic sight
.

This assumes Production Optics division.
If the OP is shooting Open, do whatever you want
