Very nice
Hopefully you got your hands a couple boxes of these to go with it.
My plan is to do the same look and put it in a glass case with this Ammo.

I looked at that Norinco gun and thought that the action was a bit rough. Did you do anything to get it to cycle more smoothly? I can buy a used Ithaca 37 or Winchester 120/120/2200 for the same money, so I think I'll do that.

It take times. I have a Polytech 1897 and a Norinco 1897 as well, both take quiet a few shots before going smoothly. Just for some info, this batch is very new, made in late 2019.

Looks good Hunter!
Is that one of the recent imports? If it is I was under the impression that the shorter barrels would not project past the heat shield bayonet mount?
Did you alter something or is your barrel the correct length?

In this case I guess u r talking about the Model 12, they do have a non-sticking out muzzle. The 1897's do have their barrels projected past the heat shield assembly, for the converted guns, I mean those civilian 1897 which converted into military use in WW2, the muzzle stick out even longer. I measured the Chinese 1897's barrel before, 20in total, 19 and a quarter from the front of the receiver, totally accurate for a trench gun :)

I’d like to do the same to mine. Having handled a WW1 Trench Gun I had to have a cheap replica to have fun with. Did the other two flat head screws for the clamping portion of the heat shield not work?

I was referring to the recent import 1897 clones.... I just took a look at the heat shield I ordered from Numrich and it looks a bit different then the one Hunter has. The angle where it steps down at the back end is a bit shallower on mine. I haven't installed it yet but it looks like my shield/lug will end up about 3/8" longer then the barrel. My barrel is about 19 1/8" long measured from the receiver.

No its a perfect fit, in fact, this is the only clone that works really well because it has no chokes

my 97 is from the recent batch, no chokes, my heat shield came from East Taylor(they make them) which is now called www.partsforantiqueguns.com , it says on their web site that their product doesn't fit clones, what they mean is clones with chokes, mine worked perfectly but wouldnt work on my marstar or my cimmarron 1897

Thanks, I got my shield from Numrich, it was a bit cheaper at around $125US and seems well built but it's a bit longer.

Have you tried a bayonet on yours?

I got one but my 1907 bayonet cant fix onto it, the lug needs some sanding :(

You've got the wrong bayonet for the job (assuming you're referring to a British Pattern 1907 bayonet). You're looking for a US M1917 bayonet. Same blade profile as the Patt. 1907, but different muzzle ring size and height.
