Beside the "never ending" flow of Rusian SKS for sale on EE , I noticed that SVT 40 are a lot for sale.
Instead K98 Rusian capture or Yugo capture k98 nor too many ofered for sale.

I would throw Enfields in there too. I think the influx of cheaper than market value SVT is due to ban scares

Lots of guys who bought their svt's when they were 300 bucks are happy to be able to dump them and still double their investment. Market went bonkers on those over the last 5 years.

I think this makes sense. I think most are listed 1-2 hundred more than they actually sell for on the EE.

I bought my 1942 tula SVT Sniper for about $475 about 8 years ago and sold it a couple years later for $700.

I Should have waited a couple more years but I did get more than I paid for it at that time.

It wasn't very consistent with accuracy compared to my Mosin Sniper and I didn't think much of it with so many SVT-40's still around.

Yup - I wish I had picked one up 5 years ago. Now, not so much.

I can't believe the price of Russian Capture K98s. I bought one early in 2018 for $625 from a local retailer, and now they seem to be selling for $1000+. Crazy times indeed, although I'm not really interested in selling it - but for that kind of money, maybe.

As for the rest, I've noticed the "realistic" selling price of things like full wood Lee-Enfield No.1/No.4/No.5 has stayed pretty consistent. The bat chit crazy prices are still out there, like $850 for a No.5 without a matching bolt, or $1000 for a Savage No.4, etc.

Great .... so a Savage No4 mk1, round bolt knob, with Savage marked everything ,...rebuilt sporter isn’t going for a grand.....that’s great news, because ,I’ve only got $1200.00 into my rebuild...lol, but it sure looks pretty...and no you can’t buy it for $2000.00....ok maybe lol.

Not really much in the way of <$300 milsurps anymore. 5 years ago this was a very different story. And let's all be real, greed is very prevalent in this (any I guess) hobby with so many people treating it as an investment. One that that amazes me is how many people will quibble over +/- $10 on the ee.

Interesting, isn't it?

There's nothing wrong with a refurbished milsurp - as long as the seller is being honest. Mind you, especially with new wood you can usually tell what is a refurb.

Having said that, you'll see stuff on the EE and advertised by retailers that is an obvious refurb with new wood (or on the EE as advertised with new wood) and being listed at or above the going rate for "original" furniture rifles. Not. Going. To. Happen. Except when someone doesn't do their research, or know what they're looking at.

I'm reminded of the recent thread with the $3000 SVT-40. Yikes...

The K98 is probably the best investment milsurp, due mostly to the historical significance. The supply has dried up, even just 5 years ago the EE was full of them.
