Looking to get a barrel thread changed from 13.5x1 LH to 1/2x28.

Should I assume any machine shop can do this properly, or should it be someone who appreciates the concerns of a firearms owner?

ATRS in Calgary but I have no idea how busy they are. Maybe CSC or TSE gunsmiths?

To mail it away there are lots of options. Is this a Sig to "normal" thing?

Unless you have the attachment with the barrel to be threaded many shops thread too loosely for my preference. I like to cut the threads a thou at a time when it gets close to diameter... most machine shops won't do that.

13.5x1mm has a minimum reference minor diameter of 12.09mm (0.476"). So it’s just a tiny bit undersized. Are you okay with the barrel being cut shorter? Isn’t the 13.5x1 a LH thread? I think there are adaptors for this conversion.

Thanks guys.

Yes it's a LH thread. Sounds like I'll have to find an adapter. Barrel is shorter than I would like already. If I cut 1/2" off it would be prohib, so no thanks.

You could probably thread the 1/2x28 thread on top of the left hand threads. You would not have to remove all of the thread. It would look ratty but most likely would work just fine.

Like an old toolpush I knew once said, "a crossed threads a tight thread". ;)
