Kind of a cool rifle. Possibly an Afghan tribesman who couldn't afford a "Jezail" but wanted to fit in with something having the look. An Enfield Mk II* is a pretty early Snider conversion and it's too bad that there's no British unit markings left on it (I'm assuming there aren't). By the time of the big uprisings on the NW Frontier in the late 1890's, the various tribes were well equipped with Sniders and Martinis although the old hand-made Jezail types were still being used. A very nice addition to a Snider collection.

Interesting, but it looks very uncomfortable shooting from the shoulder. Anyone know why they whittled down the stock?
Think they actually hold them in the arm pit. Arabs are a strange people.

Looks like a hand-made Jezail snider Enfield. Any info on where it came from?
