I am looking to see how close I can get to a completely made in Canada build, but some parts elude me so i was hoping someone could help me fill in the gaps and add to my findings of who makes what.

Lots of options for Upper/Lower receivers so I'm going to gloss over them for now. There's a few parts sold under a Canadian Brand, but they don't state where their stuff is made in so i added a question mark to the end of those.

  • Barrel: IBI, MRA, S&J Hardware, Colt Canada
  • Muzzle Device: MRA, ATRS, DLASK, S&J Hardware, Colt Canada, Maccabee Defence
  • Gas Tube: MRA, Colt Canada
  • Gas Block: MRA, ATRS, S&J Hardware, Colt Canada
  • Bolt Carrier Group: MRA, Diemaco/Colt Canada
  • Hand Guard: MRA, ATRS, Colt Canada, Maccabee Defence, BLK LBL?
  • Buffer: MRA, ATRS, Colt Canada
  • Buffer Tube: MRA, Colt Canada
  • Buffer Spring: MRA, Colt Canada
  • Safety Selector: MRA, Colt Canada
  • Ejection Port Dust cover: Colt Canada, MRA? TNA?
  • Forward Assist: Colt Canada
  • Trigger Group: Triggertech, Colt Canada
  • Pistol Grip: Colt Canada, Maccabee Defence, TNA?
  • Magazine Catch: Colt Canada
  • Bolt Release: Colt Canada
  • Charging Handle: Colt Canada
  • Trigger Guard:Colt Canada, TNA?
  • Stock: Colt Canada
  • Magazines: Colt Canada, Cross Industries
  • Misc Small Parts (detents etc): Colt Canada

Notes:
Many of the Colt Canada parts cannot be obtained individually, but can be bought from whole rifles or parts bundles from Nordic Marksman.

In case people dont know the acronyms:
IBI - International Barrels Inc
MRA - Maple Ridge Armory
ATRS - Alberta Tactical Rifle Supply
TNA - True North Arms

Thanks in advance!

Pretty sure anything from TNA is likely USA or China sourced, they're re-sellers not manufacturers.

Colt Canada?

Receivers, BCG, LPK, grips, barrels... Nordic Marksmen can basically build a Colt Canadian AR15. On top of selling actual Colt Canada rifles (tho they have USA magpul parts)....

Good catches.

Updated the list as this moves along.

TNA appears to outsource everything they make, but they are pretty good (and proud) about labeling the stuff actually made here (IE their lower receivers), which is why I added the ? marks beside their name.

Colt Canada/Diemaco is a difficult one as they only officially sell complete upper/lower sets. Nordic marksmen sells a lot of surplus Diemaco/Colt Canada stuff, but things get complicated when you see this: http://www.nordicmarksman.com/CATCH-ASSEMBLY-MAGAZINE-AMBIDXTROUS.html ... Norgon is very much American, so its very clear that they are outsourcing parts, just like TNA.

If you look at the Norgon on NM website that you linked to it has the Colt Canada cage code on it. It is made for our Canadian rifles. That is why the have the description "Colt Canada Ambi Magazine Catch Assembly CF"

Ahhh ok I didn't realize that means they were manufactured here under license. Sounds like I can top up the list with Colt Canada now. Thanks!

I am sorry, i don't know that it is manufactured here, I am just barley scratching the surface of AR building but never heard of a Canadian made LPK. If you find one please let me know.

Assuming they even still 'make them' (read: have them made by someone else), avoid S&J barrels. Grossly overgassed (new barrel was more overgassed than a Norinco barrel with 50k+ rounds through it.). S&J barrel didn't last 5k rounds before keyholing.
I've also come across 3 with improperly torqued barrel extensions.

If you want Canadian made.....I'd just stick with Colt Canada.

I'm assuming that if its under the colt Canada Cage code, where the part number is prefixed CF (which a lot of the parts Nordic marksman are) are manufactured here by Colt Canada. I know Colt Canada is still hiring CNC operators so thats a hint that at least the metal parts are likely still manufactured here. They are not very interested in the civilian market and refuse to sell individual parts. With that said they seem to be of better quality than the Colt USA stuff from what I have seen.
