Lyman 314299 bullets dropping at .3105

Best is to replace the mould.
Noe does offer mould .314 - .316 , accurate - while more expensive is cutting it to you specs and alloy.
That should get you fix.
Both take about 3 weeks to obtain - Noe sometime less if they are in stock. Accurate often have a backlog - and made to specs - it can take 8-10 days before it ship.

Accurate doesn't make a version of the 314299 or any RN bullet, flat point only.
 
Just use the custom feature and ask for it. Is a round nose a must ? No at cast bullet velocity. The flat nose is so small on .30 cal bullet that it has no bearing on performance.

I do not cast for the .303 but for a lots of other rifle caliber.
The little I researched on the .303 is many use .315-.316 sized bullet.

There is plently of choice in bullet mould. No need to stay stuck with one that does not work.

Accurate used to say on their website they don't make RN molds, period. Their minimum diameter meplat is .18", which is a lot on a 30 caliber bullet.
OTOH a flat nose bullet isn't a big deal on a 100yd plinker bullet at cast bullet velocities.
OTOH #2 the ###299 RN bullets do shoot awfully well.

I have a 180gr flat nose from Accurate that is an excellent bullet but I get slightly better results from the 210gr RN in several different rifles. I don't think it's the bullet shape as much as the weight - at cast bullet velocity you can get more consistent powder burn with heavier bullets. A 200gr+ flat point bullet would likely be as good.
 
I have a 316299 from NOE on the way. Also ordered the push through sizer die with .315 and 316 bushings.

I think I will need the .316 as the throat seems quite large. A .314 bullets drops easily into the neck of a casing fired in this rifle.
 
I have lapped out molds as much as .002" it's a bit of a tedious job, I use valve lapping compound, drill a few of your bullets and wind a screw in to drive them...rotate about1/4 turn in both directions with a screw driver or similar handle ( not in a drill press or other spinning machine). Clean an reapply compound frequently. I generally do this to most new Lee molds just to clean up the rough milling and make them drop easier. Done carefully this can increase diameter, remove out of round and smooth surface finish. Removing anything more than .002" really isn't practical.
