I see some retailers offering the Canuck Marauder semi 12 Gauge with both pistol grip stock and a raptor style grip as well. Any one have any experience with these shotguns? Seems like a possible alternative to the Remington V3 Survivalist?

I've been wondering about those as well. Google search turns up little or nothing about them and no threads show up in a CGN search. Anybody know anything about them?
Many of the Canadian dealers that show up in a Google search list them as "out of stock" so some must be out there in consumer's hands.

At that price better to look somewhere else in another brand.

I think they sit in the budget shotgun range. They if I'm not mistaken come out of turkey, where a lot of cheap budget firearms come from. Probably nothing wrong with them, but like all budget stuff sometimes the fit and finish isn't the best.

Had a brief conversation with a very helpful guy at O'Dell. I guess the major difference with this gun from the Operator is that it has a gas system similar to some of the older Browning Silvers rather than a copy of the ARGO system. He told me it comes with two pistons (one for lighter loads and one for buck and slugs). That's OK by me as our casual club shoots use all birdshot stages. The listing info shows it pinned to 5.9 and ghost loadable so 6-1-1 with 2.75". Looking forward to checking it out.

I'm still not sure which Turkish company makes these but I have been told by another CGN sponsor that it is not Salun. From what I've found online, the fact that it comes with two gas pistons suggests it might be an ATA.

So, the gun arrived earlier this week from Tillsonberg Gun Shop. According to the manual that came with it it is manufactured by Derya. When I got the gun there was only one gas piston, not the light and heavy as described by the guy at O'Dell and as shown in the manual. After some back and forth with O'Dell we figured that this is an earlier version (18 prefix serial number not 19) and only came with one gas piston. The 19 prefix serial numbered guns were updated to come with one light load gas piston and one heavy. Looks like i got an older gun with the newer manual. The plastic packaging was torn open so I suspect this might have been a display gun. The people at O'dell were very good and told me to try the gun and if there was a cycling problem they would send different pistons.

I'm generally pleased with the fit and finish of the gun from what i could see during a quick cleaning.

Off to try it tomorrow.

My canuck defender is stamped derya as well. Lasted 9 shots before jamming so bad the barrel would not come off. Warrenty was 2 weeks turnaround. Its been fine since and i like the gun but every canuck ive seen cross my local skeet field has had issues. I truly hope theyre getting better and hope you the best. Plz update when you run a few thousand rounds thru it

Well, not a few thousand but 25 of Federal Top Gun Target (#8 1 1/8 oz 3 dram), 25 of Wichester (AA target #8 1350FPS 1 oz) and 10 winchester 1oz slugs today all cycled without an issue. My biggest concern was if it would cycle target loads but it ate those first 50 without a hiccup.

That's the good news. The bad news is that I shot the slugs last and after 7-8 rounds the stock was wobbling around as if it was about to fall off. Home now googling how tighten the stock. The manual for these is pretty much useless. It also doesn't appear to ghost load as was advertised (or at least i haven't figured it out yet.)

Edit. very little online about these guns either. I got the bolt head exposed by the process of deduction (had to drive out a split pin and remove another screw and flat bar to get there) and tightened the stock bolt down pretty good. I'm shooting a match tomorrow so we'll see if it stays put together.

sailor723....try some blue locktite on the stock/frame bolt.

Thanks......that was my thought too if it lets go again. The parts diagram shows what might be a kind of lock washer in there so maybe it just wasn't torqued down at the factory. We'll see. I'm shooting 75-100 rounds tomorrow although only target loads. The stock didn't back off until I started on slugs today.

I shot my buddies v3 survivalist, it’s a little long for a shorty but it’s a fun range blaster, seems to operate good, he picked it up on sale at sfrc, the shoulder strap on the scabbard seems pretty flimsy though.

Do any of you know if those Churchill shorty pumps have any of the same issues ?

My 12" Churchill pump has been issue free....so far. The shell lifter snags my glove at times but that 'cause I'm used to my Mossbergs.
See the 14" and under stickie post 1112 for pics......

Just to update, I shot a shot a short (6 stage 48 round) match with this Canuck Marauder today. Shot stationary clays, spinner, steel poppers and an inline plate rack. No cycling issues and it ran smoothly. I even think I've figured out the trick to ghost loading. ( it involves using the mag cutout to keep the rounds in the tube while you open the bolt to get one balanced on the lifter and another round in the chamber). Over all, for the price, I'm impressed with this gun so far.
